Just picked a D3 from craigslist and I'm trying to figure this thing out. I was told I could view the map without having the Nav disc in the actual HU, I can't get this to work. I've also got a reverse camera from my previous touchscreen and it used an RCA and just plugged in, but on the D3 I'm not seeing a RCA jack to plug into. So what do I do to hook my reverse camera up to this?

Any ideas where I can pick up a Nav disc and a power supply cord for the bluetooth?

 

im not sure about the rear view cam... but i do know (cuz i had it) that the only way you can have a close up of an area without the disc is you gotta put in an address and the unit will memorize an area around that route. that is the only way though. you need to have the new gen units inorder to have maps without the cd. this is my i got a d2 instead

 

Ok so when I buy a disk and insert it into the HU the map will show, and it won't show when I take it out? Right now I press MAP and it says "Please insert the appropriate disk".

 

yup, when you inset the disc, it will give you the map function. when you take the disc out, it will still have a map, but it will be zoomed way out unless you do what i said

there is a rca jack but its on a wire not mounted to the back of it and its brown i believe, just put one in a week ago

 

I've been reading on Avic411 and I believe I might be missing another plug in bundle. Right now I have the plug in that is not plugged in on the second to last pic on this link, but I don't have what is plugged in if that makes sense.

Basically I have the bundle that goes into the black slot with 10amp fuse, but I don't have the bundle that goes right next to it.

Yeah you're missing a harness. The one you don't have has the connections for amped speakers (front, rear, and sub), a/v inputs, reverse cam input, etc.

Those harnesses aren't cheap. Have you talked to the guy you bought it from? He might have it laying around somewhere.

 

I've been doing a bunch of reading on avic411 and I found a site that sells basically any part for various manufactores and the pioneer d3 is one of them. So I placed an order on the wiring harness, RCA extension cable, and some other part I can't think of at the moment. I'm hoping that the wiring harness is the one you posted a link to so I can plug my reverse camera back in, it's miserable trying to backup without it when your front tint reads out to about 1.5. I also have a set of gps disc on the way as well. Right now I've spent about 150 in parts on a hu that I paid 200 for. Hopefully I can get everything working correctly and I'll be set once it all comes in.
