wiring question

I have a ddx512 with the blue-tooth option. Sometimes my head unit stops picking up my blue-tooth unit. The only cure is to disconnect the blue-tooth and reconnect or hard reset the system. Emailed kenwood they said it was because I hooked up the yellow Memory wire to the factory harness and not straight to battery. They said sometimes the factory harness sends pulses thru the always on wire in the harness and can have negative effects on the head unit one of with is confuse the blue-tooth unit. They seemed to know what they were talking about and said it has been reported before. To fix run yellow wire straight to battery, it only carries 300-500 MillAmps so small gauge wire is all that is needed.

My question is do I need to put in a fuse? If so I have a 3 amp inline fuse should this be fine? And is that the best way from bat terminal to head unit?

Thanks for any input.

You can run the power from your passenger-side kick panel instead of going all the way to the battery. And yes, you should fuse the wire near where you tap into the power (i.e. close to the source).

Were in the kick panel you mean off the fuse box? If off the fuse box which fuse goes straight to bat and how can I tap it into the fuse box?

There is a mounting post on the fuse box that connects to the battery. You can tap onto that.
