Looking for a Head Unit.
Looking for a Head Unit.
I drive a 2003 Ford F-150 STX model, and looking for a head unit that plays MP3s/CD/DVD's/etc. and the thing I want most is bluetooth compatible, due to being in the military and driving on military posts you have to have a hands free device, and also more states are passing the law on talking while driving. I'm in love with Alpine but feel their prices are extreme. I don't need navigation and I'm just looking to spend around $500.
Just look on different websites. You will find the Alpine you want cheaper. Try http://sonicelectronix.com
Thanks! So far I'm looking at the Alpine IVA-W203 and Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD. Only thing I'm concerned about is my iPhone 3GS not being able to connect via bluetooth, or regular DVD's playing on the Alpine since it said its only compatible with DVD+R/+RW.
I just came up with a question to myself. Would it be worth getting a headunit that has navigation if my iPhone has navigation on it? Also, is it even worth getting a in-dash touch screen? Should I just keep my Alpine deck that I have, and buy a bluetooth speaker that mounts to the sun visor (I hardly use the thing anyways, might as well make it useful)? Just looking for ideas to save money, as I'm loving the fact that I have money and spending it on learning things for my truck. Because I'm looking at the Alpine CDE-103BT, and it has bluetooth built in, figured I could just get this. Or just save up for a nice touch screen head unit and juts get subs and what not now.

I just got an Alpine CDE103BT and I think it's great.
All I was looking for was the Bluetooth handsfree and the IPOD interface.
Crutchfield had it for under $200, but my daighter got it for me for Christmas from 6th Ave Electronics. I don't know what she paid, but it must have been less the Crutchfield...
Remember that the IPOD cable is extra, about $30.
The phone interface works great, just check the compatibility of your phone since some features are dependant on your phone and/or service provider.
