Question 6-CD Head Unit problem

My factory hu has had a problem with CD'c ever since I bought the used 2005 F150. It would state "cd error" on a cd's it was just played. Then it jammed, with 4 cd's in it and will not play. I got the cd's out by taking the unit apart. Now it thinks the cd's are still there and clicks as if the gears are grinning together. Before the jammed cd's I have bought a PIE interface for the mp3 player. Is it worth getting it repaired or replace with the same type? If it wasn't for the PIE interface I know what the answer would be, aftermarket replacement. Where would you get the radio repaired?

there are outfits on ebay that have a replacement for them and a waranty. i have bought a couple for the older 99-03 style 6 disc decks. it is a common problem with them. i dont know if there is an outfit for the newer style, you'd have to look around on ebay.

I found a company in Effingham, IL what wants $150 with your old player mechanism core. I have 2 of the 2002 style 6 disk with no vehicle to put them in.
