So you didn't use the $50 iPod cable from Pioneer....you just used the USB cable that comes with the iPod on the front port?

 

The USB cable that comes with the iPod works fine, except, you can't watch any videos from your iPod through that cable. So i'll eventually have to get the $50 Pioneer iPod cable to watch videos.

 

If that uses the same cable as the AVIC, I would just go to bestbuy and buy the Rocketfish one, it has been working great with my AVIC since Dec and is built much better IMO. I don't remember it being 47 dollars, I really thought I only paid 30, but it works great and should last a lot longer

I do not know if the cable from Pioneer does, but your regular USB cable will do everything except for show video. It works perfectly. You can control your iPHONE or iPOD with it, it displays the album art. It even charges the iPHONE 3g and the iPOD, so basically you are paying 50 bucks to enable the video... not worth it in my opinion. As for the bypass :

Go to any auto parts store and purchase a four wire relay are wire it up as follows :
The wire from the parking brake from the H/U to 87
Ground to 85 and 30
Remote from the H/U to 86

You could also put a toggle switch in, in case you dont want the relay

 

I love the HU and I really want to get one now, but I'm a little bit concerned. I had a car broken into because my stupid *** didnt detach the faceplate and they stole the stereo. Does this HU detatch or does a cover go over it or anything? I'd be kind of worried to park it in an aparment complex parking lot and leave it out in the open....

 

Does not detach.

There is nothing that you can buy to keep it in your dash permanantly. If someone wants it, they are gonna get it. Tint the windows get an alarm...anything to make a theif pick an easier target.

Why would you pay the "black market" price of a AVH-P3100DVD of $275 when you can order one from Sonicelectronix for $329 and have a warranty. Just buy it if you want it. This is what we pay our full coverage insurance for, right?

Ive got this HU I just got it today. As far as having it play dvds while ur driving. my buddy at the local stero shop just wired in another little bypass modual into the wire harness and mine works fine.

 

Does anyone know where i can get a remote to my AVH-3100DVD??? I dont mind the touch screen but I would like to have the remote. Ive looked on best buy but the dont carry the cd-r55, the remote,. any ideas where to find one at??
