First Post - Need System Advice - adding on to a Kenwood DDX512

Hi everyone, first post here, been a bit of a lurker trying to get up to speed on everything F150 related. Just recently traded in my 04 Mach 1 for an 06 F150 Supercab FX4 and am really enjoying it!! Sure I miss the performance of the Mach, but the truck is just so much more practical, and I stole it since gas prices were around 4$ a gallon at the time.

I've got some serious systems questions for you audio gurus out there and hope I've come to the right place.

I've upgraded the head unit in my FX4 to the Kenwood DDX512, and am absolutely in love with it. My main focus was the best ipod interface and I couldn't be happier. The dvd functionality was just icing on the cake.
However I've now learned the unit only has one output for a sub and rear speakers, so basically if I want to upgrade everything I've got to either:
A: run the speakers off the head unit and amp the sub
B: run the front speakers and sub off a 4 channel amp and power the rears with the head unit but lose fade control
C: run a 5 channel amp

My question is really around 5 channel amps, never even heard of them until I started researching potential upgrade possibilities.

I'm looking at a Kicker ZX700.5 - here's the specs:
# 5-Channel Amplifier with Class D 5th Channel for Subwoofer(s)
# RMS Power Rating:
* 4 ohms: 70 watts x 4 chan. + 210 watts x 1 Class D Sub channel
* 2 ohms: 85 watts x 4 chan. + 420 watts x 1 Class D Sub channel
* 4 ohms (bridged): 130 watts x 2 chan. + 420 watts x 1 chan. (2 ohms sub channel, 210 watts @ 4 ohms)
# Bass Boost Remote Control: 0 - 18dB at 40Hz
# CEA-2006 Compliant
# 24dB per octave Crossover:
* Active at 50Hz - 200Hz
* High Pass, Low Pass, or Full-Pass selectable
# 4 gauge power/ground leads
# Dimensions: 20"L x 9 5/8"W x 2 1/8"H

With this amp will I be able to run -
1 - Boston Acoustics G110-44 (sub woofer)
2 - (front door) - Boston Acoustics SX60
2 - (rear door) - Boston Acoustics SX65

Also will that amp be able to be mounted under the rear passenger seat, or will it need to be mounted behind the rear seat? If the latter are there any issues with doing so?

Thanks in advance and for all the answers I've previously found on this board!!

Welcome to the site!

I run the ddx512 with an Alpine pdx 4.150 under the front passenger seat. My front speakers are running off one pair of amp channels, the rears are powered off the deck, and my sub (JL Stealthbox) is running off the other pair of amp channels, bridged. I did not lose fade control at all. Why do you think that you would?

Just say no to kicker. How much are you wanting to spend?

Thanks for the replies.
Guess I just assumed I'd lose fade control... See what I get for assuming.

Well, I didn't say no to Kicker. Got a smokin' deal on it so if I don't like it I'll throw it in the wifes exploder.
