Blue Tooth Mic

I'm trying to decide between the Kenwood 8120 and the Pioneer AVIC-F90BT as a new HU. While I sort out what's best for me, I was curious where everyone was mounting their bluetooth mic for these (or simular) units, and what is the sound quality (outbound specifically)?

Thanks much!

I have an Avic-D3 and have my BT microphone mounted on my steering column and it works great for me. Some claim they have problems with that location because it picks up the door speakers too much. It looks good there and works for me, try a few options and see what works best for you.

Thanks for input, and nice install pics and review. Very helpful.

Since you've actually done the install, about how long is that mic cable? I was hoping to possibly route it around and up, and mount the mic either on the electric rear-view wires, or in the overhead rail system.

The Mic cable on the DS3 is definitely long enough to do that. I don't know the exact length but I'm thinking 10 feet or maybe longer. Thanks for the props and good luck with your install!

i had my blue tooth mic run thru the headliner and into the storage on the headliner closest to the windshield so you see no wires. it was clipped on the front of it. looks clean. i can get a photo if you would like

What you need to do is be on the phone with someone patient and move the mic all around the truck. Once its a spot that doesnt echo, have them yell. If still no echo and they can hear you, its a good spot.

I also have the D3 and my mic is mounted at the top of the a-pillar. Nice and obscure, but no one has any problems hearing me when I talk to them. I can get some pics tomorrow if you want to see.
