So one of these have been around for a little wile but this other one just poped up on crutchfield. But they are computers that go in tho your DD opening in the dash.

not to sure about the first one(will read more later) but i know the second one can be set up with your own custom front end. you can load any computer program really. Car computers have been around for a wile. and if you check mp3car.com there are some really cool set ups. but now there are readhy made units. i think i might give one a shot. not to sure if i want to spend that much cash. but it would be cool to have 120gigs of music/movies, gps, and internet in the truck. have not seen any postes around here about it so i thought i would bring it up. i have not done one my self but i did help a friend put a 15" screen in the dash of his ram and a carputer set up. it was so cool

ya they are alot. but if you look on that website people build them for a couple hundred bucks. its even better if you have parts laying around

 

Ive honestly been following mp3car, and I am in the process of putting together a truckputer. we have tonz of room behind our dash and in our glove box to put an entire computer, especially micro atx or mini itx based. Im having trouble finding a descent sized screen to use, and I cant determine if I need a transflective screen or not since our dashs are so high up. I might go with this screen right here

what are yalls thought about sunlight hitting the top part of our dash (where the radio is now) enough to make a normal screen unreadable?

 

I say go with the 8' it would look alot more stock. 10' is gonna take alot more work. Wiht sun light i say get the screen you want and set it on the dash aand see how it works. you might want to angle it alittle. the glare on my kenwood sucks some days so a screen might have the same problems

 

Why put a built-in amp? Stupid IMO. I would rather have less heat and more room for the processing stuff...and/or the money put into better stuff there.

Odds are anyone getting a deck that nice will not be using a POS "built-in" to power speakers...
