Sub popping!

I just put my Alpine 9831 in my 04 F150 with Audiophile and a when I turn the key on it sounds like the sub goes thud and then all is normal. Everything sounds good after that but I was wondering why I am getting this noise every time I go to start up.

You need to put a 5K ohm resistor in line of your remote turn on lead. The factory subwoofer only needs 5 volts to turn it on so you need to knock the voltage down.

Cool thanks! Where is the best place to pick one up? I looked at my local Radio Shack and didn't see one. Also will it hurt to leave it like it is until I can get to resistor installed?

Brother.. I just fixed that problem in my truck. Apparently, there are more ways than one to fix this issue. The way I fixed it was by installing a voltage regulator.

I am no electrical expert.. however, alot of people said this would be easier than dealing with resistors. Make sure that this regulator is away from all other connections and whatnot as I have heard that it gets really hot.

I drove 30 mins with good volume and the regulator did not get hot at all.. it was warm.. my radio was warmer than the regulator so I guess I'm good. BTW, Radio Shack has this for $ 1.59. Radioshack.com 5 volt regulator

Thumbs up

You guy's ROCK. I just installed a pioneer AVIC-F700BT in an 05 Lariat with autophile. I thought I was finished but had a pop every time it was turned on. I put the Radio Shack voltage regulator in and all is right with the world. Thanks a lot.

I run into this a lot, I use resistors and I use (2) 1k ohm resistors, one coming from the amp turn on wire going straight through to the amp and another 1k ohm resistor grounded attached to the amp turn on wire after the first resistor. Man thats hard to explain hope that makes sense....
