Aux input install

I`m sure its here in all these posts....but i`ll ask again....I have an 06 XLT Screw with the am/fm/single cd it has the "aux" but it is not active...I want to install a 3.5mm plug for my wifes mp3 and my daughters dvd player....if I order a 07 tray part # 7L3Z-15042A82-AA and get the pigtail part# 3U3Z-14C411-FAA....will I be able to remove my radio..plug the pigtail harness into the back of my radio and have the aux work...or are there other parts required ie. harnesses? Does the pigtail part have a harness on the end already?...if so I could wire that into a 3.5mm female plug and install that in the lower dash out of site......

If I understand what you want to do, it won't work. The AUX input is a bus, not just an audio input. You'll need something like the FRD04 PIE adapter to activate the bus.

In a nutshell they are right, unless you want to spend the money to buy a radio from an 07-08 truck. These radios support the aux-in directly wired to the radio with no adapters. Other than that a P.I.E. adapter would be your route. I went with the newer radio myself because I want an aux-input as well as sirius radio without all the adapters and etc... just waiting for my parts to come in to wire it up. By the way if anyone is wondering, yes the 07 & up radios DO support aux-in. I did a test with a radio from an 07 f150 that I got off ebay, I just temporarily ran some wires to where the factory aux-in tray is hooked up and it did work. When I press AUX button now with nothing hooked up it does go to LINE IN.

Also... hopefully other members see this post before they try to order that pigtail number because it has been listed on several threads on here and it is not the correct one. The pigtail that fits in the aux-in tray is WPT-465 or ford part# 3U2Z-14S411-PRA
If I may recommend, get your stuff from www.tascafordparts.com they are the cheapest & this is actually a ford dealer in R.I. so it is all oem. Domenic over there is awesome at finding what you need and has been helping me out for the past 2 years. That tray there is only $28.01 and the pigtail $18.07.
