Avic D3 Wiring

I know this has been addressed all over and some people say to search AVIC411. I find AVIC411 hard to search. What I want to know is just about the ground. Can I use the ground in the harness to ground the Brake and mute wire, or should I fine a chassis ground on my truck. Sorry I do not know how to post a picture so here is a link.

I believe the wiring is OK but could use a second OK.

I tied mine into the ground from the harness, and everything worked fine! Don't forget to move the mute wire too! (yellow black)

quick note about the gps ant. If you look straight into the hole of where the radio sits, and slightly up. You'll see a metal bracket. (sort of u-shaped channel). I put mine there, and had no problems with it receiving a signal. just my 2 cents!!

good luck and enjoy! It's an awesome radio, and the ipod hook up is great too!!

I also have the Subwoofer harness I plan to use the harness cabling for the turn on of the amp to the woofer and run new power from the battery. Since 12v is fine do I just splice the two Blue/White "amplifier turn on wires together and then connect them to the blue wire from the AVIC D3?
Also I have a remote camera that has a power +/-. where do you tap in for these? should I run them back to the head unit or is there a ACC power lead in the trailer wiring harness that I can use?

I have used my rev2 wiring diagram and everything is working perfectly. I did take murray330's suggestion and placed the GPS antenna on the"u" channel just under the tray. I will be adding a sub-woofer and then replacing the factory speakers after that. The D3 is an excellent stereo even though the navigation is poorly designed. It still works well and what you get for the money is really a great multimedia solution.

Will the older AVH units work this same way? I've got to wire mine up also.
I have a AVH-P6400CD and haven't had a chance to investigate how to get the video to play yet. I also am about to purchase a reverse camera to add to it.

To bypass this unit all you gotta do is ground out the parking brake wire out of the HU

You could get away with that

The towing harness doesn't have an acc on it, at least on the 4 (3?) prong ones.. those are running to where you get power either when your lights are on, or your signals/brake.
Run the power up to the cab, I'd grab the power off the ignition wires:

Good luck with your install
