Touch Screens

I'm looking at putting an alpine HU with a 7-inch touch screen into my 06 screw lariat, what I'm wondering is if anybody has an opinion about touch screens and screens in general for your system? Also, where can I find a good deal for these screens? Most places charge you an arm and a leg for one of those things. Thanks!

Oh theres a good point, I am NOT looking for a flip out! Thanks tho!
And the W200 is the HU I am most interested in! But finding a good price is difficult, especially since, and I'm speculating here, they discontinued it.

Yes. They have discontinued it. The W205 replaced it. But its not a bad radio. I have it in my 2006 Ford Explorer.

Unless youve got a hook up in the industry, your probably not going to find an alpine in dash for cheap. Make friends with someone who does car audio. I got a pioneer avic n3 for 350 bucks through work

I got my W200 ffrom Visions for $550, but mine was refurbished. They basically replaced everything and it came with a 90day warranty. The only sketchy part for me was that it was a final sale so i couldnt return it. Good screen, handles the cold really well, it was -37C last week and it still worked fine (and i park outside), although i tried not to touch it very often until it warmed up. Took a little while for the colour to fill in though (its really light coloured when it's cold). Some people have complained about for radio reception with the w200 and i only have one station that gets crappy reception, but i dont mind cause it's a country station and now i never have to listen to country in my truck again.

All in all its a good ddin, the only annoying part is the fingerprints.

Another vote for the W205! I love mine! Great unit and real easy to use. I added a backup camera not long ago and it was really easy to integrate it. Check out Crutchfield for a good price on the Alpine 205.

Could you post a pic of that? I would like to see it in an old body style. I have an 02. Does the double din fit good?
Thanks!

It looks better in person i swear and yes my truck is filthy right now, dont remind me. Fits terrible! The old body style is not a full double din, so its a pain. I had to cut out half the plastic off on the inside to fit, the drill a bunch of holes in the plastic so i could actually fasten the stupid thing. I had to cut out my console directly on top of the deck so the stupid thing would open when i hit the eject button. The little frame they give you doesnt fill in the gaps perfectly, but you dont see it unless you stare at it. Plus you gotta chop off the bottom part so the frame will fit, then put in some double sided tape so it stays in place. Took a several hours of figiding around before i was satisfied, and my rear speaker isnt working so i have to rip it all out again. Oh and if you buy a wiring harness you end up with a crapload of wires to including a fuse box and whatnot to shove behind the deck. A real pain the first time around, but is it worth it? Totally.

Oh and i told you the fingerprints are annoying.

Looks good, but sounds like a pain to get it to fit the way you want it to.

First time i've seen a double din in a 01-03 Screw. I wanted one but i just would not have the patience to install, and the local shops said they wouldn't do it. haha.

I have the iva-d310 and love it.. But the iva-w505 is on its way
I have one pre-ordered through my store and can not wait- retail is 999.99.
Also for what its worth are the new JL Audio TW5 sub, super thin and sound is "supposed" to be of a W6- we will see.
