? for stereo guy.

I am putting on a new/used head unit. It a older sony xplod. I am not sure what yr or model it is. It has a plug in the rear of the radio that said remote on it. I am not sure what its for? I was thinking that maybe I can directly plug in my mp3 player like a aux plug. I am not sure because all it said on the plug ir remote. The radio does not have a mp3 plug in the front of it. Let me know what you guys think. Ben

Upper level older Sony units ad a wired remote that plugged into the back to control a 10 Disc CD Changer that you mounted in the trunk. I'd bet that's what you're looking at. Unfortunately, unless you had a pin out of the plug, you wouldn't be able to use that as in input for your IPod.

You may just have to crack open your wallet and go buy just about any $79 cd player with an input jack on the front...

ONbeley that is most likly the case w/ the plug on sony. But I heard of a wiring kit that I splice into the og harness that I can run a mp3 plater. Also I can always use a fm transmitter. Ben

Well then, I'm glad you wasted everyone's time by asking the question, then.

BTW, next time you waste someone's time, you could at least have the courtesy to spell their name correctly.

i had an old Sony that had that plug too. it looks like a headphone jack right? it is for a wired remote, i even had the remote mounted on my steering column, i guess it didn't catch on too well.

the ir remote is for an infrared sensor that gets mounted in a convenient location for the driver to point the wireless (I.R.) remote at
