pioneer 4900 in a 99 f-150

Well i just ordered my new pioneer 4900 with a ipod cable, so i should have it in about a week. In the meantime i want to get the other things that i need so i have it all when i am ready to install it. I know which harness i need but do i need an antenna adapter or not? Also what is a good dash kit to install? I am looking for one with a shelf under the cd player so i can keep my ipod and phone on it. Thanks for the help.

I just put a 4900 into mine---a '02. I didn't need an antenna adapter. I also put Pioneer 4-ways in all four doors. Sounds great. The longetst part about install the radio was crimping the wires in the harness, everything else took maybe 15 minutes...

U won't need an antenna adapter, and your dash kit for metra is the 99-5802, it has 2 ways to mount, w/the pocket on the bottom or the top, IMO mounting it with the pocket on top is the most secure, it uses 2 bolts on the a/c controls to secure the bottom as well as clips. The other way just uses the clips. Have you bought the ford radio removal keys yet? That's pretty much all u'll need for the install

Ive seen some people use coat hangers to remove it. DOes that work ok? I thought about buying them a while back from snap on but never did. And now if i get them from him i have to wait another two weeks for them to show up. Is there another place that might have them on hand?

most parts stores will have em, u could try a coat hanger, but u run the risk of messing up your clips and making it ALOT harder to remove.

Pioneer Deh-p3900mp.

I bought the PIONEER Car MP3 CD player DEH-P3900MP. I have the LARGE Ford Factory tape player in my 2001 F-150. What kit do I need to get? because the player is too small. And do I have to get stereo removers too?
If anyone is thinking of getting a new system go to Target ASAP, they had speakers on clearance too.

Well i found a set of removal tools for my radio and i bought the wiring harness i needed. I dont have my new pioneer radio yet but i want to make sure i have everything before it arrives. I bought one harness adapter and then i removed my radio to confim that it was the right one. However there were two connectors going into my factory radio. Does the pioneer radios have just one connector or do i have to get two harness adapters?

You can most likely get the removal tools at the local auto parts sotre, "Bustbuy" or "Circuscity." AS for harnesses, you only need one for the Pioneer---disconnect both fromthe factory radio and connect your new radio with the new harness to the reciprocal harness going to the speakers.

You will need a Metra Kit 98-5804, I believe.

The other plug is 4 the changer, you won't need it, tommy it could also be the metra kit 99-5802, that's the 1 I install in every 97-2003 f-150 that rolls through! ure harness=metra's 80-1771 or if u have the mach system (which I doubt becuz u have the tape player...) it would be the 80-5600, u could tell right away by looking to see if you've got a green plug on ure factory wiring to your HU.
BTW at our "circuscity" we don't sell the ford removal keys, we just have them. u could ask to use them...but they , might tell u to blow off or pay...depending on the installers

Please help!

I have the Pioneer DEH-P3900MP and I don't know how to connect the wires.

I purchased the METRA Wire Harness 801771. Am I supposed to crimp the wires and just shove it in the harness somehow?

or Do I need to also buy the Metra Pioneer Radio Harness
Model #: MET PR0180?
