Alpine installed pics

I was thinking about keeping the factory radio in my '07 FX2 but after comparing the costs to make it compatible with my Ipod and having to install Sirius, I have decided to just use my Alpine CDA-9856 (only a year old) that already has the Sirius tuner box and I-pod compatibilty. It looks like it will be attractive looking in the dash but I was just hoping to see some installed pics of any of you who have a single DIN style head unit in your '04 and up trucks just to get an idea how bad the dash kits look...lol. Thanks!

Mine looks sweet! I love the deck. And my dash kit looks like it came with the truck. The fit is definitely the best I've seen looking at other dash kits out there.

What brand and model of dash kit did you get?

I don't know. Whatever Crutchfield sent me. I am extremely happy with the fit though.

Probably the Scosche setup. If I remember correctly, Crutchfield carries that brand. It looks similar to the one I had for me SVT Focus. Better than the Metra ones I had. Not bad for stock appearing!

Looks good. I'm glad I ordered mine from Crutchfield then. That dash kit looks awesome! I had a cheapo Metra one in my Ranger and it was horrible. Bad fit and never did look right or very sturdy. I was concerned with how the Scosche one would look. I have the Sirius box already all hooked up, wires hidden, and my Ipod cable neatly ran behind the dash to the glove box waiting for my stuff to arrive. I'm still debating on where to put the Sirius antenna. I'm thinking maybe it wont look too bad in one corner of the dash on the interior (wire carefully hidden of course) instead of having it on the roof. Should pick up fine there as the windsheild is big. I have the GPS antenna for my Palm phone sitting there when I use it and it picks up fine. After all, it's a satellite too.

Uhh.. Idk about yall, but Metra makes some of the best dash kits (if not the best) out there. Scosche uses decent manufacturing equipment in comparison to Metra. Met is using 4D lasers and mapping systems to design all kits. Metra is the way to go. Trust me ive been there.

Is there more than one they make for the F150 04+, or just one model for that brand?

I think either one would be better in this truck since the dash kit is bolted on instead of just clipped into the dash like the one in my Ranger was. That was the main problem I think.

There is more than one company. Metra, Scosche, American International, etc...

My stuff should be here today or Monday to get this all put in and I'll take some pics to show you all. I can't wait!

BTW, to get the radio out, I just need to open the ashtray and pull out the trim peice from there to access the radio bolts, right?

Yep!

Send pics when you are done.

I used the crutchfield kit on mine and was never really happy with it. Im never really happy with single din's anyways though.

Tardman's looks good though...

use a flathead screw driver to gently pop out the trim surrounding the head unit, start from the top and work your way down until all the clips pop out, then its just 4 simple bolts to get the HU out.
