cap and leave them, and no illum wires?!?!?.: And to top it off Zaair, you are fussing about the old harness, he has the new one.

Look bro, on the 04+ ford harness you will have, there will be the orange wires. Do not hook the Z2 up to those. You will need to run a wire from the Pk lights to the illum wire on the Z2 (orange/white i believe). This is a on/off wire. No inbetween like on the factory HU which will dim with lights dependant on the dimmer control. Notice its called a dimmer wire not an illumination wire.

As for the phone mute cut and cap on the ford harness. On the Z2 harness you will have to repin the phone mute wire in order to bypass the unit.

Your VSS wire will be Gray/Blk at pin 14.

If you have any other questions let me know.
The original poster has a 2001, therefore he'd use the same style harness that I've been using in the past 2 trucks. And see in my post where I said none of the DVD units I've installed had a illumination wire? That doesn't mean I said that the Z2 DOESN'T have the illumination wire. Just the units I've installed over the years.

The only radios i have ever seen without an illum wire are 89 dollar JVC & Jensen radios. Even duals have illum wires.

Even the same on the old square style harness. Dimmer wires are cut and capped individually not chillin in the dash for it to hit ground and short out. Then for illum you have to catch it at the light switch.
