TEXT button on stock H.U.

The manual says that when in FM mode, pressing the TEXT/SCAN button momentarily will display RDS info if it's an RDS station. Also, when playing CDs or MP3 discs, pressing it will display the track info. It does neither in my truck.

It dawned on me that every CD I've played in the truck since picking it up in May has been a CDR that I've burned MP3s onto. So today I grabbed a "real" CD and popped it in....still nothing. On the MP3's that I put on my CDRs, I populate all the ID tag slots under "properties" after downloading them.

Was this info display actually another option? I find it hard to believe if it were that the exact same buttons would be used. It's certainly not a big deal overall, but it's frustrating to think about something being there that either doesn't work or I just don't have access to.

I don't have the Sirius option. Sorry I didn't mention that but I don't think it matters.

Just took an AC/DC CD out to the truck. Text/scan does nothing while the cd is playing! Didn't try it with the ipod...maybe later.
It does however display all kind of info when listening to sat radio!

Mine came with it, but I also noticed on the window sticker that I paid $650 (I think that was the amount) for the 6 months of sirus radio that I'm getting. I didn't notice this until it was already said and done, and I got other discounts, but had I noticed while on the lot, I would have mentioned that, cause for some reason, I just don't listen to it. I'd rather listen to the local radio stations.

It's on my window sticker as well, but for $195.00 for 6mo. It's all I listen to anymore....

On the -03 radios, you have to turn on the RDS display through the menu system. I have a 2004 manual in PDF and it says RDS is only availbile with the audiophile HU.

It worked on mine ... just add CD text to CDs that you burn. As far as satellite radio goes, I've got XM so I had to go with the aftermarket route.

Same here. Mine doesn't display anything for radio stations either. I have played a couple MP3 discs I burned and populated the information on, and it displayed the info for them. Nothing on regular CDs though, or radio stations though.

Yes, retail CD's will not have the artist or song text on them. You can make a copy and do it yourself if you like.
