2006 F-250 HU to a 2001 F-150

I have a 2001 F-150 Supercrew with a stock single CD player. My dad recently bought a 2006 F-250 Superduty with a 6 CD in-dash player. He took it to the dealer to get the nav system and sirius satellite radio installed. They gave him the 6 disc changer HU back and asked if I wanted it. Will this fit in my F-150? Holding it up to the dash, it looks like it should fit, but is there anything I should look for or need to know prior to doing so? Would I be better off going to the dealer and have them do it? Will it even fit and if so, how do I remove the old unit without accidentally breaking anything? Thanks!

It should fit. The major difference in the pocket is the screw placement. The 250's are set back in the dash and the 150 is more forward...it doesn't really matter but the double Din should work. The bigger question will be to see if the wiring harness still matches.

What's the best way to get the front of the dash around the radio/AC controls off?

Most dash bezels are just held on by spring clips. Just pull, and it will come off.

Key here is to pull gently and it will release......do not tug or pry. Bad things will happen. Like more rain.

Have you tried this yet? Does the harness fit? I am looking at replacing a 2002 HU with a later model and am curious if any other stock ford HUs fit.
