DVD Headunit help...

So, my pop out in dash dvd player (Jensen VM9410) has decided to play this cute little trick lately where the screen won't function properly when the unit is fully opened when the screen is vertical, aka the best viewing position. Now, it'll only work if its at like a 45* angle with the screen facing down. If I open it more, the screen shuts down. But, I push it down with my hand and it'll turn back on. I think that there is a switch that is bad or dusty or something... Anybody know how to fix it? I really don't want to drop $800 on a new DVD player, but the unit is 2.5 years old and I don't think it'd be worth sending in to get fixed.

EDIT: And if you think I can't fix it myself, then recommend me a new headunit. I'm wanting an in dash screen... like the Alpine IVA-W205 Anybody know where I can get a good price on one?

Fold-outs are always scary as far as lasting. Glad yours lasted for 2.5 years. I had the same unit as your a couple years ago and sold it to a buddy when I got into a Pioneer N3 nav unit. About 3 months after I sold it my buddy was crying that it had problems.

I'd recommend going with a double din unit. I have the Kenwood DNX7100 that has nav and all. Quite a bit above the Jensen but you can easily go with a Kenwood DDX6019 or DDX7019. Travis that owns www.kcautosound.com has a 2000 Excursion that he mounted a double din radio in. He told me he had to shave a bit to the dash behind the radio bezel and the unit fits perfectly. Hit him up on a great deal and how to do it. He carries just about every unit out there exept Eclipse I think.

My flip out Pioneer was doing some funky stuff right before it was stolen.

As for the 205...I think you know by now how I feel about them. Great value, great sound and adding the NAV when the new BB is out is much less expensive than others with the added plus of portability to another car/truck etc.

I have seen the 205's go for as low as 800 on ebay...feel more comfortable buying from a authorized dealer. Pay with $$ and you can get a better deal.

Ok, now here's the real question. Kenwood 7019 OR Alpine IVA-205? I found the Kenwood for $679 and the Alpine for $729.

What is the cost of adding nav to the 205? 499.00 and its portable.

Does the Kenwood Nav offer 3D Street level fly through like the new BB?

Hey I am biased, what the hell do I know?
