I have a 07 with AUX plug-in in the top dash tray area, if i were to get an ipod and plug into there, can i switch tracks using my factory HU controls?

Negative. The tray aux input is only for audio. IIRC there is something you can buy to connect the i-Pod to which will then connect to the back of the head unit, and that will do what you are looking for. I'm pretty sure though that you need to unplug the harness from the tray input jack though, so that factory jack will be disconnected.

not even needed really. I bought a goosneck mount and, using the seat bracket that came with it, shoved it under my driver seat mount (closest to the center console). It puts the ipod at just the right height.

BTW, the Ford manual states not to use a line out from the iPod, but rather connect the headphone output to the Line In. That's not correct. The line out works JUST fine using something like a PocketDock. By using the Line Out, you can control the volume with the HU volume **** not both the HU **** and the ipod controls.

That should help some.

What is a poketdock? Do you have to have one to make the line out work with the radio? I don't own an Ipod yet but was planning to get one. I have an 07 with the spot on top of the dash to plug in.

Are you saying to just run a line from the line out to the dash spot?

I you want ipod control you will need one of these adapter. I would email this company with your vehicle description and let them know what you want.

I just want to plug into the aux jack already in my truck without using the headphone out on an IPOD to avoid the issue mentioned in the post above of dealing with the volume on the IPOD and on the radio.

I use the headphone jack with the aux in on my 07 Expy all the time with 0 problems. Try it before you spend unneeded money. I set the ipod volume to 70% and it sounds great.
