Question-nothinbutaford

Sorry for the double post, I have this listed as reprogramming h.u. also. But here is my scenario:

Having a slight problem here. Recently purchased a factory audiophile cd6 mp3 radio from an 07 explorer to put in my 06 f150. I couldn't get the illumination to work on the h.u. Did some research and found that the explorers use a different wiring system to control the illumination. I didn't want to mess with my wiring too much so I sold that one and bought another one which now works fine. Now the problem is I sold the other one on ebay, the guy put it in his 07 explorer and the illumination still won't work?? Will a reprogram fix this?? The radio is a brand new factory take out to replace with a nav unit. Will ford honor any warranty to fix if it is not the programming?? Any help appreciated!
Here is the part # of the radio in question: 7L2T-18C815-BE Also I had him check the display portion, he states it stays bright when he puts the headlights on, dimmer has no control either.

Also, do you have a shop where you do your work?? I live in western, ma and if I need to program the radio, could drive down. Thanks for any help

Update about the radio.... I just had the guy I sold it to try the self-diagnostic tests. The self test came back as SELF FAIL Also the display test did not light up the buttons I have left a message with the person I bought it from to let them know it is defective or needs re-programming. Hopefully can re-cover some of my $$. Now my question is how does a BRAND NEW factory take out radio have issues?? Did plugging it into my F150 somehow cause a fault Please let me know. Thanks....
