anyone install an alpine cda-9857? pics??
Very nice. I wired the radio harness to the aftermarket adapter and couldnt resis trying it out. With the stock speakers it sounds great. In the am Im gonna install my Alpine speakers in the future will come the amp.
Red Wing Nut,
Did you happen to check to see if you can change the display to all green, as someone asked earlier?
What are our options if we want an ipod capable HU with EQ and not just bass and treble? I can't believe they did that to this HU. Friggin stupid.
OT: Hopefully the Wings stomp the Blues tomorrow and stay healthy through the Dallas and Nashville games. Shaping up to look like we'll meet the Oil in round 1... could be scary. Too bad Dallas didn't draw them. That's always a fun series. GO WINGS!

Jeff in Houston

unfortunately the only alpine unit in this years lineup that has color changing options is the dva-9965 but it's $1400.00 and it's also the only one with bass engine pro. All the rest you're stuck with whatever is there.

Thanks for the reply, stetsonguy. Bummer. Sure would be nice if someone out there made a worthwhile HU that was:
1.) Green, or at least had the option to change to that color
2.) Had a high speed iPod interface
3.) Had EQ (and auto-EQ if possible)
4.) Had dedicated pre-outs for front, rear and sub
5.) Displayed a good deal of id3 tag info on the screen rather than 8 characters or so at a time
6.) Integrated the ipod controls into the HU controls with no delay and ease of use
7.) Less than $500
Regs,
Jeff

Red Wing Nut, how did you get yours to sit flush like that? My 9856 sits back like yours did originally and from looking at it I'm not quite sure of the best way to adjust it to get it flush. Anyone else that has ideas or knows from experience please post. I'd like to do it right the first time and not have to tear the dash apart more times than necessary.
I added two little 1/8"x1/4" shims down each side of the radio between the cage that came with the radio and the dash kit. Kinda hard to explain without pics. The 1/4" holds it out the right amount to sit flush.

I just put one in a few weeks ago also. Two lines of info on screen for IPOD is great. It's like having a 300+ CD Changer. You could put the IPOD behind the dash and never touch again if you wanted. Very cool. Just wish the unit would fall back to area in directory you were just at instead of back to first album in library..but still the chit.
