CD Error

I am having a problem with my factory head unit when it comes to playing the cd's. All I get when I push the cd button is a Cd error flash then nothing happens. I have pulled the fuse to kill the power both with the unit and off. I cannot eject the 6 cd's that are currently in the unit. When this problem surfaced I was trying to play one of the disk that was already preloaded in the head unit and it flashed bad disk. Now it will not do anything, eject or load just flashes CD ERROR. anyone have any ideas? The only thing I guess I can do now is take it back to the dealer? The truck is a 2005 XLT 4x4 Scab

Very common problem. I used to work for the Ford Radio Warranty Department. You can call Kelvin at Broadway Radio Shop. They are a authorized Ford repair center. 816-753-1960

Stopped by my local Ford dealer sevice deparment and at first he smiled and grined and said this a common problem but did not say why! He said he would have to order a new head unit and give me a call when it comes in. Now if this such a common problem why not sent out a recall or at least advise owners of such issues????

If you want those CD's, you better get them out, yourself. You may even fix the problem doing it.

Take the head unit out, open the case covering the CD changer, and head back to the truck.

While holding the unit in your hand, with the case open, connect the power wire, and let the unit initialize.

After it finishes, start pushing the eject button, or the load button, or try to play a CD. Anything to get the changer in motion.

Watch how the mechanism works, when it's in motion.

Chances are, it's off the track, or jambed up with one of the CD's.

Once you get it loose, it should cycle the 1st CD to the top, where you can pull it out, manually.

Keep working at it, and you should be able to get the rest out, or the unit working....one of the two.
