HU Output

I have a 2004 XLT with the standard ole' reciever/CD. Anyone know the output power of it? Any chance of integrating a subwoofer without amping it?

The easy answer is yes, you probably can do it but, it will be nowhere near enough power for a sub. The only way to achieve that would be like a powered sub. Something like a Bazooka or Infinity Basslink.

Depending on model, HU output will be in the neighborhood of 22.5 to 25 watts.

You can splice in a powered subwoofer with "speaker level" inputs like the Infinity BassLink, Bazooka Tube or Kenwood KSC-SW1. They're rather easy to install. I have the Kenwood in several vehicles. Quite a bit of punch in a very small unit. There are many reviews of powered subs at Crutchfield's site.

Stock HU output is around 8-10 watts per channel. If you do want to amp a sub with it dconder is right not enough power no way. Bazooka tubes and the Inifinity powered subs I've heard good good things about. Heard a bazooka tube in a buddy of mine's car it sounded good. Infinity is almost always good so I assume its great just a bit pricey. If you want to keep factory HU get an amp with speaker level inputs and connect the HU through those.

I installed an Audiophile HU in my 05 XL regular cab. To try and keep as much free space behind the seat as I could, I went with a powered Bazooka tube with the 6" sub and the 100w amp. It compliments the system nicely and is adequate for my 43 year old ears. I primarily listen to classic rock and country.

A younger person or someone that enjoys rap may appreciate the 8 or 10 inch Bazooka with the 200 watt amp.

The powered sub was very easy to install.
