radio still plays w/out the key in the ignition

I've got an '06 F150..I've noticed that my radio still plays when I remove the key from the ignition...(of course only when the radio is on) Is this something new with Fords, or do I have a short somewhere????

No you can still listen to the radio that way. once you open the door it will shut off. It is nice if you are having a party outside or if you listen to the radio while working.. just roll down the window and turn the key back and the radio kicks on then pull the keys out incase you need them

Did you check that black thing in the glove box?

It's nothing new. My stock deck in an '00 f150 wouldn't play without the keys, but it could eject CDs. Something my aftermarket deck does not do. I found this so useful if I was running out to the garage to get a disc and didn't have my keys with me.

Most aftermarket decks do eject discs without the key turned if hooked up correctly.

I would take this back to the dealer…pound your fist on the service desk…and very loudly demand for answers.

I guarantee that you will leave with a new owners manual….

Then my wiring harness must not support it. There is a wire coming from the deck that I could not connect because there was not one to match on the harness. This is the wire that connects to the dimmer switch on my dash... it must also let me eject the disc without a key in the ignition.

The deck is a Pioneer DEH-4600MP
