Where can I find one of these?

I'm looking for one of these converters that has an empty top slot then the bottom one solid. I have something that I want to mount below an aftermarket (single DIN) HU. It's the right size height wise but not wide enough so I need to mod it somehow and I'm thinking finding one that's already solid and cutting it out would easier then filling in the area.
Of course if you have any better ideas please share.

I got my mounting brackets at a locally owned music store.. Just go into any place that sells car audio and ask them to order a Mounting Bracket for your vehicle. Give them the make/model/year and they can order/find it for you. You can also ask for a solid plastic pocket to mount underneath the deck if the bracket they have doesn't have one included.

For my truck, I didn't need anything except that solid plastic pocket to mount under the deck. just the way it works out

The problem with those is that they often slim down towards the back, so whatever you plan to put in them might only fit in the front. Suppose you could still do some fancy cutting if you really wanted to.

You might be better off finding something to fill the space on the sides.. depending how much room there is, 1/4" MDF might even work just to hold it steady.

anyway, here's the dash in my truck

I'm OK with it slimming in the back as the device I want to mount is only about 2 inches thick...If that.
I was hoping on just dremmeling out something that was already there, that way I don't have worry about mounting any additional pieces. I'm too lazy to paint the MDF (or anything else I could use) as well.

That's where I got that picture from. Those two were the only ones I could find...Not quite what I was looking for.

if you are ok with slimming at the back, then you'll find the brackets at locally owned stores. Not bestbuy or circuitcity, they will overcharge you to hell. Don't pay more than $20-$30 for something like that.

Mine pushes in underneath the deck, wedging it in place, and has two clips on the sides to hold it there so you can't just pull it out. Works well.

So they do sell ones like these?

I'd prefer the first one but I've never seen any with the solid bottom section. Best Buy, Circuit City or their Mom and Pop shop equivalent.

(Awesome photoshopping job eh? :o )

Actually yes, they do have those here. generally they only do that if the bottom section is smaller than the top section, but I imagine it would be possible to find one like you have shown above.
