Most user friendly MP3 HU under $200?

I had an early JVC MP3 unit in my Cobra and while it looked and sounded great, the MP3 usability blew. All I want is something that sounds good, is easy to navigate, allows random play through entire CD, Folder, or sub directory ... relatively inexpensive is nice as well because I'm also going to get the SWIX steering wheel module and 4 new 6x8 speakers. I don't crank stuff like I used to but I would still like it to sound decent. Also, I would install myself so references as to best place to buy online would be great.

Thanks,
Mark

OK, no replies ... is my price point too low? Too many wants? I have considered the Alpine 9851 for $249 @ Crutchfield. Any help would be appreciated.

I just bought the Pioneer DEH-P6700MP CD/MP3/WMA Receiver from Crutchfield last week. I think it's great for $209. 50 watts a channel. It's more than loud enough for me. The radio has a lot of options on it. I haven't figured out how to operate all the things it does. My MP3's play fine. I also bought 4 new 6x8 Pioneer speakers.

Good head-unit but can be found here for less $179.99. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=2403

But if you spend just a tad bit more you get a pretty little blue screen $229.99

Good luck

Millionbuy.com is at least 50 bucks off everything that crutchfield has. Bought my 6700 there for 169 about 2-3 months ago.

Thanks. I did look there and at other places but wasn't sure of everything I needed that's why I went with Crutchfields. Crutchfield gave me everything including the tool to remove my old radio and the instructions were great.

Most of the price differentiation in the MP3 units is the mp3 decoding.

Alpine has about the best unit for the money. My brother had a Blau mp3 that had very poor sound.

Alto AIUA makes a cheap mp3 player that has pretty poor sound.

the alpine CDE-9845 is 164.99. Its going to be about the best you can find for under 200

Nothing is "user friendly" to me anymore. I don't know that much about my cell phone. The remote for my home stereo/video system has about 50 buttons I don't know how to use. My damn alarm clock has buttons/***** for this and that. I have an AOR 8200 hand held scanner that does hundreds of things that me and friends from work can't even figure out. I have a Nikon digital camera that has more buttons than an airplane ****pit. And now I have a car stereo that has many features I don't know how to use or don't even know if I need.

User Friendly to me means a tv remote that only changes channels and volume, a phone that all you do is pick it up and dial, a camera that all you "really do" is point and shoot and a car radio that has 2 ***** and two buttons.

My wife has a cooking range, clothes washer and dishwasher that has as many buttons as my digital camera.

NOTHING IS USER FRIENDLY ANYMORE.

Crutchfield is great for including alot of stuff. The tools to remove your old stereo you can usually pickup at Wal mart for like 3 bucks. Other than that all you need is the dash insert for your stereo and the actual stereo and harness. Cant go wrong w/ that head unit though.

Id get a pioneer with the 7 way ****... I like to use that to navigate my MP3s... There are a few different models with it. I have the 8600. Either way, Im ordering the iPod adaptor and a new iPod Nano for the full kung fu effect.

Thanks for all the advice ... I ended up buying the Alpine 9851, the Blaupunkt 6x8 speakers w/baffles, and the PAC SWIX from Crutchfield all for $377 ($20 off coupon available from XPBargains.com). Got the CD player and SWIX installed today ... will mount the SWIX led and install the speakers tomorrow. Sounds real good even with the stock speakers and the MP3 navigation is fast and easy.
