i have a 2005 xlt with the single cd, my buddy has a 2006 lariat with the six disk, can i put it in my 05 xlt.

Pretty sure you can just make sure you have all the same wiring in the back. I was going to put my 6 disc from my xlt into my dad's 1 disc lariat HU but he didnt want to F$($ with it. But just check. Shouldnt take but about 5 minutes to take each one out and then just swap and see.

Check the pin connector in the back of your's.

 

Definitely check the connectors on the back. Some Ford F-150 single disc units use an entirely different connectors than the 6-disc units.
