I installed the FRD04-AUX in my '05 F150 a few days ago, and the sounds is considerably better. I did notice however that there is a headphone icon displayed on the HU. Is this normal? Sound works out of all speakers and the sub. Just thought it was strange.

Power?

Got mine today - where are you guys hooking up the two wires for 12V and ground. It would have been a very easy hook up but for that.

Headphone icon on the display is "normal", or at least in as much as everyone is getting that. I'm presuming it's normal.

On the 12V, some people are hooking into the radio power so that it powers up & down along with the radio. I've seen a few that are wiring it into the 12V outlet. Both ways seem to work without problems.

I hooked the power supply to the cigar lighter wires. When you take the trim off, unplug the connector to the cigar lighter and gently strip the insulation off of a small area of both wires. The BLACK wire is ground and the COLOR wire is positive.
I soldered the splice and taped them securely.

does the cigarette lighter turn off with ignition? if not you should you use a switched power source that way the unit will turn off with ignition. OR, find out which wire keeps the radio one when you shut the key off and then shuts with radio off with the door opening. i plan on ordering one when i find out who will ship it to canada.

Yes the cigarette lighter does shut off with the ignition switch in the off position. This is the technique I used to install my aux/adapter. I sounds great.

Has anyone used the iPod adapter that works with the P.I.E. adapter for our trucks? It allows you to directly connect your iPod to the adapter into your stock radio, and it will charge the iPod as well.

It can be found here.

I just bought an iPod so I want to avoid the FM modulator if I can.

Thanks,
mikebaby

I don't think the lighter is switched at all. It's on all the time, regardless of the key position. I realized this the other day when my GPS was on all night without the keys in the car.

I just picked up a 05 F150 XLT supercab on Sunday.. I have the XM roady 2.. Which I am sure will plug in and work with this pie mod.. I am new to this forumn and want to make a purchase quickly so I do not have to use the modulator on my roady 2... I have the single cd player and aux button on my stock radio. What would you go with and the best price I can get?
Thanks,
Chris

RGSMDNR,

Send me an email - I have two: One is installed and the other can be shipped to Canada. It is still in the original shipping box.
