Anyone know the spec's on the 6CD/MP3 players in the 2005 Super Crew?

What kind of specs are you wanting?

I'm going to assume you want to know the difference between the two part numbers, and as far as I know, one of them is for the regular 6 disc/mp3 head unit, and the other is for the Audiophile 6 disc/mp3 head unit. The main differences in the two head units is that the Audiophile unit adds "sound profiling", as well as has a third plug on teh back that hooks up to the audiophile sub/amp.

...or could the difference be related to the "entertainment" package? Hmmm......

No. I need RMS power output per channel, RMS power bandwidth (frequency range), sound shaping type, tuner type and sensitivity, CD Frequency response, CD Signal-to-noise... You know, specifications.

Not sure what the exact specs are, but after listening to one, I'd have to say the applicable description would probably be "crappy"....

I whole heartedly agree. I have not been impressed. The Chrysler Infinity system in my Jeep was far superior and cost half as much.

oddly enough

Me either, I like the 6 disc and MP3 compatibility, but am thus far unimpressed with the SQ and overall experience. I'm installing a pair of Infinity components this week because I was so impressed with them when I demo'd some at the local dealer. If Chrysler is using them as their audiophile option, that's two points for them in my opinion.

Chrysler uses an Infinity component system (at least in the Jeeps). I've been extremely impressed with the sound quality. The Ford systems really need a subwoofer to sound decent. As it is, the Infinity system has plenty of bass for the average person.

I'm also planning on scrapping the original speakers in my 05 trucks and installing Infinity's. I would replace the head units, but I'm rather fond of the in-dash 6 disc with MP3.

Speaking of specs, does anyone have references or links to the schematics of the HU?

I'd like to consider the feasibility of pulling out and buffering some signals as preamp outs.

I really rather not use a line converter...

thanks

Anybody got spec's on the in-dash 6 CD MP3? A vehicle side wiring diagram would be nice. All I have is the schematic in the Hayne's manual, which really doesn't jive with the wiring harness' in the truck.

I put an Infinity Reference component system on order (with powered subwoofer) for my SC. I also ordered the Polk db series component system for the wife's Sport Trac (with subwoofer). I think the Polk actually sounds better, but we'll see.

Talking

Not to beat a dead horse but I have it and it stinks. Takes all day to get from disk to disk, read the next song and the rms is non-exsistent. I have had my Lariat since February and am already shopping for a new head unit....I also found a nice adapter so you can keep your steering wheel controls...in addition I put my XM Commander unit right into the ashtray (with some mounting plate modification that came with the unit) so I can close it when I am out of the truck...it is pretty trick.

The HU is painfully slow changing discs. The output is a little low... maybe 22 rms per channel. I'd love to change out the HU, but there's not much to choose from in a 6-disc changer HU double din sized.

I did figure out if you don't put your MP3's in folders, there's no delay between songs and no noticeable delay "spinning up" a song when you fire up your stereo. There's definitely a noticeable delay when playing MP3's in folders. The HU is still kind of quirky with MP3's, though.

Here is the link for that part...I believe you can buy it from crutchfield as well http://www.pac-audio.com/ the part number I beleive is PAC SWI-X I am not sure of how it works but seems to solve the control issue which was all that was holding me back.
