If I were to buy a HeadUnit from an unauthorized dealer, is the factory warranty still in place? It'd be sweet to get a headunit 100+ dollars cheaper than retail, but I'm not sure about sacrficing the warranty part...

Hmmmmmmm. Hard telling. If I had to guess I would say no, there would be no factory warranty.
Best thing to do is email them and ask.

But, most of the time no, they just provide thier own 30 or so day warranty.

 

Just say you received it as a present.

 

sounds like an intriguing option. i've sent the faulty p8mp back to the unauthorized dealer under their warranty (i'm out the s/h + the $9.00 for using the wiring harness )

if the one they send back to me is faulty as well, then i may have to call up pioneer and say that (b/c as a matter of fact i did receive it from my cousin on my birthday )

only thing i'm concerned about is them refusing to service it. hopefully they don't demand a receipt.

 

They will want a receipt unfortunately. But you may be able to slip it through.
