Easy question about HU install

I'm a first time installer. I noticed that theres a metal bracing that keeps me from sliding in my new pioneer HU. I bought a HU kit at Best Buy and the kid there told me I needed to pry or cut the piece out to have the Hu fit properly. Seems strange I'd have to pry it out. I thought the HU locked to that bracing somehow. Can someone please explain this to me?

And yes I know, Best Buy is a horrible place to take advice from, so thats why I'm on here asking.

there are 3, 7mm screws holding in the bracket. two of them are just under the front lip. you can feel them if you reach your fingers in there. these two are a bit of a pain, so have patience use the shotest 7mm wrench you have and good luck

Cool, so it's out now. My HU came with metal braces to lock it in somehow. Is there a way to do this on these trucks or do most people not bother?
