MP3s & Audiophile?

I have a 2004 F150 Lariat with the Audiophile system, and I was led to believe that I could play MP3s. However, I just burned a blank CD with MP3s, and it would not play. The display said "CD ROM", and then ejected the disc. Does anyone know more about this issue? Thanks.

Your deck MUST say MP3 right below the cd slot in order to play MP3s. As far as I know, this is only available in 2005 year model or off of ebay.

Thanks. Your reply accurately describes my situation. However, the quick reference brochure that came with the truck (2004) says that the Audiophile system plays MP3s. Are there any options available to do this without replacing the system?

I've never heard of anyone changing their deck to be mp3 compatible. It would be easier and better to buy an aftermarket deck for approximately $250 rather than try to reprogram your deck. Another option is to purchase an iPOD or similar player and order a Blitzsafe adapter to run it through the AUX input on the radio (this adapter ONLY gives you cd/mp3 quality sound, it does not change tracks or display song title, etc.) Or do without the dapter and use an FM modulator to tune it in to say 107.7 on the radio, but the sound quality is less.

I had an Audiophile system which gave the same result when I put in an MP3 disc. I ended up buying a later version system from Ford with MP3 capability, but this doesn't have a sub woofer socket. So I am reselling the unit. I was in Dubai last week and bought myself the Kenwood DDX 7025 for $800 which will play everything and take a reversing camera as well.

I had the same issue and took my 05 back to the dealer with the windows sticker that says "w/MP3 Capability". THe dealer is ordering a new head unit and is treating this as a manufacturing mistake.

I'll get the MP3 player that I paid for!

My 04 plays a mp3 disk. I used a Fuji cd-r disk. Maby a cdrom disk won't work. Where can you get a Blitzsafe adapter for the aux? Thanks!

Currenly still waiting for a good replacement deck. The first one's ordered were for the wrong vehicle. The Sound guy at the dealer will order again and try for a Friday 5/28 install. We'll keep you posted on the saga of the MP3 Capability issue.

Well, to end this happy story; the dealer came out to my office and installed the correct MP3 capable Audiophile 6 disc head (that supports the factory subwoofer) and everything is exactly what I would expect.

A big rounds of thanks goes to John, Nick, Carol and Jan @ Citrus Ford in California. Outstanding customer service!!! You can't believe how many times they called me to be sure things were going ok...
