1997 factory cd changer and mp3's

Hi,

Does anyone know if the factory cd changer in a 1997 f-150 will play mp3's. The reason why I ask is because I just purchased the truck and the cartridge is missing form the changer. I dont want to spend money on a cartridge if it will not play mp3's. If it does play mp3's, where can I get a cartridge for it. Thanks to all that respond to this post.

I have the stock 6-disc changer. I am pretty confident it doesn't.

I will check tomorrow, then I'll let you know.

I just tried it in my wifes 96 Explorer with the 6 disk changer just to make sure and it did not play it. (Same head unit and changer as yours) Only white noise, MP3 is fairly new to the audio world, has only become common in aftermarket in the last year or so and still is not standard. You have to buy a head unit that is MP3 compatable they start at about $129. The cheapest I've found so far is at wal-mart. I do not think even a new Ford has mp3 players as a factory option yet.
