i wanna drop some weight
oh yeah, and don't get subs. i have (and love) my system, but the subs are about 45 pounds each plus the box and the amp. i'd say about 250 pounds, but ofcourse i didn't buy an extended cab truck for low weight.
I know you guys are going to say it's "Ricey" looking, but here's a carbon fiber hood. I can't find the weight on this sight, but I know it less than our hood...

the hood is NOT 22 pounds, that is the aluminum hood that goes on the lightnings, others get the steel hood thats atleast twice as much. trust me, i have moved my hood, no way it is 20 pounds
I don't have a Lightning, and my stock hood weighs 22 lbs also. Its aluminum. I changed hoods myself with the help of one friend. not like i payed anybody to do it for me. I could DEFINATELY tell a difference in the weight of the hoods. I could easily carry the stock hood myself when i put it away in the attic in storage. WIth the cervini's, it was alot tougher and i could definately without a doubt tell it was twice as heavy. The 02HD hoods should be aluminum too, as with all the other f150 hoods. If not, then all the HD's and all the L's have aluminum hoods, but i don't see why they'd have 2 different material hoods for. I could even go up in the attic and take a pic of my stock hood on the scale to prove it
what kind of truck do you have btw?
N2TRUX, i bet ya that hoods not lighter than the stock one. it may be the same weight, but it can't weigh very much less than 20 lbs or so. There's a guy with a L thats bagged and has a cf hood. He said himself no weight savings there
here ya go. here's another thread to back it up. thepawn did an awsome job researching all this stuff up

wow, i was wrong on the hood. i thought it was lots heavier, but yeah, i just lifted it with one hand. i thought i read that the aluminum hood just went on the svt's, but maybe that was an earlier year or something. theres not too much to do to permanently drop weight without loosing certain comforts and loosing plenty of money. an idea would be get a smaller gas tank (25 gallons = 200 pounds!). you would have to go to the gas station more, but because of the lower weight, from less gas and a smaller tank, it wouldn't hurt gas mileage. definatley not a great idea, but there aren't too many ways to drop weight. anything you do will cost money, not drop too much weight and will probabley take away a "necessity". but you have done the best thing to do, which is drop the heavy twenties for some lower weight rims.

You should relocate your gas tank to a plastic can by your tailgate next to your battery. Then you can do a 4" drop in the rear only to move the center of mass closer to the rear wheels then you could loose weight and still get more traction.
So, if you drop 200 lbs, what will you gain, maybe .1 in the 1/4. Is it worth it?
If your that concerned with 1/4 mile times you've picked the wrong vehicle to start with, get an 03 Cobra or something like that.
All the power window this and power seat that, 3 extra captains chairs, sun roof, consoles, the 80 lb each wheel / tire combos. That is killing you so much more than say 15 lbs of washer fluid reservoir.
Just enjoy the truck for what it is, and it's not a 1/4 mile killer.
Just my .02

thanks for all the ideas...
I installed lifter bars and a 2" drop which gets me better bite. I think that I am safe reducing weight on the rear some since I have done that and I will be ordering some slicks/rims just for the track...

btw, when you are speaking of dry cell batteries, are you talking about optima batteries? If so, they run about 35lbs or so vs. the 50ish pounds of the stock battery. Save maybe 15-20lbs max, but the battery is better, for sure.

I was actually thinking about something like a dyna-batt. They were a popular mod for my contour svt but should work on the harley too. There is a good article - although designed for dodge stealth/mitsu 3000 gt - here: http://www.stealth316.com/2-dynabatt.htm#g16ep. And they really are about 14 lbs.
