Problem?

I have a 2002, buld #7159. I have recently been noticing a problem with it. When my motor is cold and I go to start it, the truck moves slightly. This can't be good.

It doesn't happen all of the time. Has anyone else noticed this?

The truck moves slightly?

Do you mean the truck moves/shakes like in a similar way when you rev the engine? --- If so...this is normal. Could it be that you are just paranoid? Give us a more detailed description so we can help you. Are you sure it only does it when it is cold? Maybe someone has answers for you right now...but I havn't heard of this problem....yet -

Is it like a forward or rearward surge? If it is, then I would think that your column shifter (tranny) was not placed in "Parked" all the way and locked, which happens once in a while. If it's like what ricekicker said, it sounds normal to me.

yeah

I noticed that too...it's like it is going to drive away without you but it doesn't. Reminds me of my old Sportster sitting at a light and you revved it...it would lurch? forward a bit.

Also...do you park the truck on an incline? If so...try parking it on a flat plane and see if the problem still occurs.

Probably the parking 'pawl' is not entirely engaged or has a little slop in it. Ever notice how the trucks usually rock a little and you hear a 'pop' from the steering column after parking the truck?

...or you could be feeling the initial friction of the clutch packs slipping past one another.

I wouldn't be too worried unless it is really lurching forward.

No, I thought I was paranoid at first, so I let it go. But it did it again last night. It was obvious. So, I made am appointement at the dealership to get it checked at . I'll let you know how it goes.

The same thing happens in our Expedition. We have an automatic car starter
& when I look out the window the truck moves forward during start. I ignore it for now. I think it is all the torque/HP^^^^^^^^^^^^^
