New Winter Shoes!

Just put on my new "Winter Tires" They are forcasting 2-3 feet of snow tonight in Park City, Utah and the 20's just won't cut it. I put on a set of four (Nokian Hakkapeliitta 1) Studded Winter tires in size 275-60-17's on some ARE wheels I had from a previous vehicle, they are about 1/2" taller than the 275/45/20s and don't look too bad. Said to have the best traction available. With studs, mounting and balance $146.00 plus tax @ See their website for more information.

thats gotta look weird. not saying like bad, but i mean being used to looking at your truck with the big bling bling 20's, and now just plain rims hmm, i wonder if you could do a burnout with those and make some sparks fly also!

It sure doesn't look as good as the 20's but they have no ice traction at all. I parked in a driveway with a slight incline on some ice and it actually slid backwards in park. Our roads aren't generally that bad but black ice is hell. Its the price you pay to live in a ski resort!

ya know the nurf bars come off with like 2 or 4 bolts, if you wanted to remove them to keep em from any salt spray from the roads.
anyway, too bad they don't make 20" studded tires probably be expensive, but at least ya'd have the extra traction and still keep the look

I'm there with ya partner - I also had to go off with the 20's for the winter. I went with the Cooper M&S 275/70/16's which were a little taller but they sure fill up the wheel well. The only bummer was that I could not find any decent looking Ford caps so I had to put on some Chevy caps until I can find some Ford covers that look good. Any ideas???

It may not look as good but if I lived in weather conditions like you say I would put different wheels on in the winter too. I don't think I'd want my awesome 20s getting all that snow, slush, salt, etc.

Post pics if you get a chance. Love to see what it looks like.

yes, take the caps off LoL! got any pics of this? LoL. maybe paint them bright orange or yellow. it'll give ya about 15 hp.

us unfortunate po' folk have no other choice than leave the stockers on year round. don't know if i'd be able to swap the rims for 4 months out of the year though cuz it just won't be the same. LoL.

Only had to drive her once last winter in the salty and slushy roads. she did fine, but got quite dirty to say the least! LoL

look at that shine and reflection! LoL

All that filth was from one trip over the bridge to PA and back. had no choice but to take the HD. but you know me...she was washed that day in the freezing cold. LoL

Got a chance to try the Nokian tires this weekend. They have exceptional traction on both hardpack snow and ice. As well I found I could easily start up on an incline in soft snow. Stopping is great as well. This tire/wheel combo is a good solution for Harley and Lightning owners (or other 2wd's) who need to drive in snow or ice.

Smile Priorities, ... priorities!

WOW!! ... Uhhggg! I'd have my wife and kids out before my putt!!

I live in the Seattle-Puget Metroplex and my rig hasn't seen rain since I bought it late May! ... probably won't either!

H-Ds (2 or 4 wheels) don't agree with snow! ... or rain, for that matter. Have an F350 Crew for that stuff! ... AND the wife & kids!!

Boy, ... hope she doesn't see this post!!
