Unhappy timberrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well winter reared its ugly head....heavy rain caused a branch to fall on my baby.....

it hit the windshield, baseball size crater........
dented the left fender, hood and grill surround....

well im hoping homeowners fixes it ...auto insurance has already replaced my supercrew for being totaled out by drunk driver...jinxed i know the feeling...im thinking about a hummer for a commuter and put my harley in the garage...

the good news is that nobody was hurt...though i really feel bad for the guy who owns the truck...ME

Another bummer! I know how you feel though. In an ice storm a year or two ago we took an oak limb through the roof, a pine limb through a storage building, and a HUGE oak limb on my step daughters car - from hood to trunk - $3,000+ damage! Hopefully it will get repaired quickly and be good as new.

Man, sorry to hear about that. Glad noone was hurt though. Can't really say how they will repair it without seeing the damage.

I would assist on replacement if at all possible, especially it being a new vehicle and all.

You really might want to look into an aftermarket hood and at least turn a negative into a positive.

Good luck with it.

www.cervinis.com has the best looking cowl hood out there IMO for a HD. they are top quality also. Harwood also makes a cowl hood, but i heard the quality isn't that great, and its friggin huge! Looks awsome on a L, but i thing it would be a little too much for a HD ;)

Cobrasvt has the cervini's cowl hood on his truck
here's pics from Etown of cobra (cervini cowl) and 356 (cervini ram air)

Wink

wow...those hoods are awesome...

im leaning towards the ram-air....of harleys..

but the cowl hood looks good too...

im going to talk with the body shop and see what extra costs it would take to make the change...must be discreet so that the wife doesnt suspect additional cash...

what is the best deal on price...they have it listed for under 500.00...seems fair...

any drawbacks to it being fiberglass...hopefully it doesnt crack after time...

thanks you bunch of mod junkies..now i have the BUG..

the hoods are a decent price. and they are top quality. every body shop i went to, to see about getting it painted said they were glad it was a cervni's cuz it wouldn't need much prep. You either have to leave it on the truck for 5 days, or bake it in an oven for an hour at a certain temp so it cures all teh way. I just let it bake in teh sun on the truck cuz ya gotta test fit it anyway. I put it on myself though, with the help of another person, but it was really easy. Hardest part is aligning everything. Not hard, but time consuming. Took me about 1/2 hour to adjust it left to right, but i'm a fanatic with little details :p

The hood is heavier than the stock hood. about 20 lbs heavier, so its like 42 lbs. The stock hood struts still hold it open though, just gotta lift it a little further for them to push it open the rest of the way. no big deal.

as for being fiberglass and cracking, my one friend from NY has the same hood, and on teh way home from one event, the hood bolts fell out of the latch and the hood flew open at 60mph and smashed the windshield. The hood was perfectly fine though, just needed to be repainted. It totally trashed the hinges also, but the hood came out unharmed with just a few chips. So i don't think you'll have anything to worry about there. Just make sure you use threadlock and lock washers on the bolts for the latch. i noticed cobra's latch lost a bolt when he popped the hood at Etown. Good thing i noticed it cuz it could have been a disaster waiting to happen when he ran the 1/4.

here's the link to his damage

you would not believe how many people asked me either what happened (thinking i was in an accident) or why i got the hood painted white. LoL. I just told them i liked the cop car look. LoL!

you can see the intake tube through the hole

I also have custom made billet inserts so it matches my grille

ok im getting 350.00 for a new stock hood...so i will put in the difference to get the ram air...its decided...yahooooo!

the flame will be replaced on one side...im thinking what would a same size flame in black look like air brushed to replace the stock flames...its an idea one workers had in the paint shop...same price....also im looking at maybe a custom airbrushed flame on the new hood....maybe something around the scoops or in the indents....give me some feedback you bunch of mod junkies....

i think some silver pearl ghost flames would look kick @$$ on the DSG HD!

When i get enough money saved up, i'm getting 2 pearl red ghost flames on my hood probably. pretty similar to this design on a 00 black L thats up in town here.
