Buddy, I would be interested on how your speedo is affected, if at all.

It should be negligible since the speedo is not calibrated anyway. The difference in diameter is less than half an inch from the stock tires. I am running 295/45R20's on my rims and haven't noticed anything considerable.

The 295/40-20 would look great on a truck that has some lowering done, as little as an extra 1F/2R to our already lowered from stock ride hieght. The extra 20mm of width really looks good.
Keep in mind that it's pushing the rim width tollerance though. It's specs are measured on 10" wide wheel and ours are 9" wide. GY lists the acceptable range as 10" - 12". I will have to check the "bible" when I get in the office, though I think a 9.5" is acceptable by industry standards so it's only pushing it by a .5". Problem is that the tire doesn't work it's best if it's stuffed on to narrow of a wheel. Wear, ride & handling problems can result.
275/45-20 = 29.74 OD
295/40-20 = 29.29 OD
.45 or 1.5% difference.
.50" / 1.5% variation from OE is well within acceptable.
The 295/40-20 is available in the Eagle HP Ultra + which is a decent looking directional tire versus our OE GTll's. They also make it in an F1 directional which is a great looking tire.

The ideal plus 0 size would be a 305/40-20 - 29.61 OD. Only problem is that it's really to much tire for our 9" wide wheels, it really needs a 10" or 11" wide wheel to work correctly.

There are other choices in the 295/40-20 as well though:
Dunlop SP 9000 Great Tire, low mileage on this truck
BFG g-force kdw - Same as above
BFG Comp TA SSS - Good Tire
Pirelli P-Zero Scorpion - Good Tire, can be noisey
GY Eagle GSD EMT - Good Tire
Kumho Ecsta 712 - Good Tire

No problem, I just like to make sure people have all the information before making a change. The tires are the last thing between you and the road. It kills me when someone will spend $200 on a pair of tennis/sports shoes and balks at the same thing for a tire. When's the last time you've seen someone running 80mph!
I'm about 30 minutes north / north west of the city.
