First Problem

My 2002 HD was not starting properly, it was taking 5-10 cranks then it would start. Brought it to the dealer replacing the fuel pump. I hate leaving my truck with somebody else. especially after reading about that creep at that Mustang shop

Good Luck! I hope they fix your Harley quickly! I was without mine for 3 weeks.
And I only had it for 12 hours b4 it got hit. So I know the feeling.

Man, sorry to hear that. Starting to see more problem posts these days. Either I was really lucky or things are starting to happen.

Good luck!

Last time I took mine to the dealer over a year ago, the punk a$$ people there took it for a joy ride, over 20 miles. I cheked the odo. The floor mats were all dirty. I called the managers bluff on it, he didn't even apologize, he just said they had to drive it 20 miles to another shop to get fixed. I said, 4 people?? He was such an a$$. I wrote to the manager of the dealership and all but no response. You can't trust the majority of those slime *****.

Paul,

My 2002 HD has problems starting too, please check my thread related to it and add your comment, cause I am gathering documentation for taking it with Ford.

Thanks in advance!

I know how you feel about leaving your Truck. We pay to much to be without it. Even a rental is not a good choice. A Taurus or Windstar just don't cut it.

Neither will a POS Focus!
I had to leave mine for 2 days to have a paint drip fixed on the hood's edge. Why won't dealerships try to match what the customer is dropping off?

If I drop off a F-250 long bed, will they expect me to work on a POS Focus or Protege?

I've had pretty good luck in the past. I had to leave my truck overnight once and they asked me what I wanted as a rental. They gave me an F150. Now it wasn't an HD but at least it was equivalent to what I needed.

I hated leaving it overnight but there were no miles on the odo and the service manager made sure it was parked in the garage overnight. I believe it was since there was no sign of dew or anything on it the next day when I picked it up.

It does seem that my experience is the exception rather than the rule.

Ford has the Blue Oval certified dealer program that the dealers are very aware of as they are always encouraging me to give them a good survey score if I'm satisfied. (I always get surveys in the mail after service asking how the dealer did.) Don't know if it's true but I'm told these surveys are like their report card and a dealer can lose their Blue Oval certification if the responses are not good.

loaner vehicles

The dealer elects to give you a service loaner
based on availability. It has to be a veh. in their ser. loaner fleet, which is usually a Focus,
Taurus, or Windstar. They may have an F150 or
Ranger if they are larger dealers. (they have an
allocation of service loaners). Personally, I'd be
happy with whatever I got as long as it has a/c &
cruise control.

Loaners

Took the HD in to fix the moonroof sliding open and a small scratch on the door.

Absolutely no problem with my dealership, about 2 miles added as they had to test the moonroof on throttle and hard brake, but the tank was really low too

I'd take a POS Focus over the POS Daewoo we got. To their credit, it was the top of the line Daewoo, but that's like polishing a turd.

Friend had a 300Z taken in for air conditioning service and got a Porsche Boxster! Lucky b@st@ard! Funny thing is, the Ford Dealer is in the same circle as the Nissan!

Just trying to follow-up.

Paul Barash: Has your issue been resolved after they changed the fuel pump?

did the starting problem get progressively worse?

I'm a bit concerned now, cause I started my truck this afternoon, and it stalled, then took about 5 cranks to get it going... Just wondering, cause it's not the first time either.
