Fender flares

Hey, does anybody know how the fender flares on the 02 HD's are attached?

showya? anybody?

i was thinking of getting a set for my truck, because when i was at the track on sunday with cobra, i though he lowered teh front 1", but he just had the same 2" rear drop as me, and his valance was at the same clearance height. It was cuz the fender flares, it makes the fender well gaps look smaller, and since i can't lower my HD up front cuz i wouldn't make it into my driveway, this would be a good solution for me

so does anybody know how they attach? any drilling involved
Thanks!

Yeah, they have screws on the bottom that go into the bottom of the fender.

Josh, Don’t go there! I was going to put Ford factory flares on my truck like the new HDF150’s. I ordered them for a Lariet w/ Flareside bed. They came in unpainted with clips on the inside (you would have to drill holes in your truck or grind off & replace w/adhesive-or you can use the screws on the bottom and the tension will hold the top in place) & they had a cut for mud flaps (front & rear). I thought it was too much of a hassle to order new one’s. I returned them. You could try to order one’s for the 02 HD, but you may have trouble with the rear set (style side bed). Let me know if

thanks for the info

so let me get this straight though....they have clips on them? would the clips line up with the screws already on teh bottom of the fender so they would just bolt on that way? and what do ya mean about the mud flap cutouts? i want rear mudflaps like i have now (the molded ones) cuz it keeps the exhaust so much cleaner, but don't want front ones. I don't care if i needed new rear molded guards though since the curve in the flare.
so is there anyway i could put them on relatively easily without having to drill anything? and just bolt them on? i'm not worried about teh paint. i'll have the guy who did my hood shoot them...thanks

What I mean about the clips is they are comparable to the old style door panel clips/fasteners. Push them into the hole and they are on there. I removed all of the clips so I could do a test fit. Like I said, you can screw into the bottom & they should hold in position. Also the cut outs were near the bottom & was more like a notch for the mud flaps. You can probably order fronts for the 02 model & rears for a Lariet Super cab Flare box. You may want to look at the Ford brochure or try to find one around town. Let me know what you end up doing. By the way, your hood looks great.

Harley 356,

I looked into doing just that over a year ago. I purchased the correct fender flares (painted Black) for our F150. But like everyone said you would have to drill holes into the outside of the fenders in order to use the clips that they come with. I was going to remove the clips and use 3M tape to attach where the clips were but I didn't think it would hold up. So I ended up selling the fender flares in the classifieds. They cost if memory serves me right around 375.00 for ALL 4 pieces.
Bottom line is they will work but I wasn't drilling holes into my truck...
