Cool MGW Ltd. stuff!

Fellow HD Gang:

I am not sure if any of you are familiar with the company called "MGW PRECISION, Ltd." (http://www.mgwltd.com/) but they are a little company located in Augusta, Georgia that makes awesome CNC Bullet stuff of the highest quality.

I have a bunch of thier stuff on my Mustang and would love to cover my F150 Harley Davidson and Lighting with it too. They do make "generic" items for the F150, and some Lightning stuff, but the Harley-Davidson has been left out

I heard/read that they are **** in keeping the quality to the highest level. And that they inspect every piece that is chromed and will reject it even for the slightest flaw.

I believe it as the (flawless) parts for my GT are perfect examples of the dedication to their craftsmanship.

They make some nice stuff for the F150/Lightning... but we want more don't we!

We need to let the owners of MGW Ltd know (George) that the Harley-Davidson line is alive and strong and we would like to see some Harley-Davidson specific items for our trucks.

Obviously there may be some Trademark/Copy write issues, but that wouldn't stop them from being creative and produce some "tough, biker, type stuff part layered in lots of chrome".

Besides, don't we all have an uncle named "Harold Donaldson" that we would like to honor by butting his initials on our trucks?!?

Post, and we'll let him know about this message thread!

That would be awsome if we could get some specialized HD billet pieces for a reasonible price! Like engraved oil cap or whatever. i'll be buying some underhood billet pieces over the winter and that would be pretty cool!

and there are already more HD's out there than L's now i'm pretty sure. Only like around 5K L's a year, but they made 8,197 HD's in 00, and i know in 02 they made a few more than 12,500, and in 03 they will probably make a couple more thousand (even though i hope they keep the # down )

anyway, great idea, i hope he comes up with something

My01Bolt, did you see this thread? https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...2&pagenumber=3 I know you're in NJ, and it would be great to have you and your husband come with your L and HD! Email me if you are interested in coming and i'll fill you in on the planning we've done since then. Thanks!

Harely 356,

Where did you get your total build number for the 2000's? I talked in person to the Oakville plant manager and asked how many were produced (afterall, Oakville is where the 2000's were assembled) and your figure is not correct. I'm sorry but I would tend to believe the plant manager over ANY dealer, rep, buddy, etc.

The number the plant manager told us last year was 7500. We where all there for a tour of the plant and after they had a Q&A in a room.

BlownHarleyFord, what did you hear? I've heard 7500 in like 95 percent of articles and stuff on the web. But the same goes for the 02's and all the articles say 12K and they actually made 12,500 some. I won't take any buddy's, dealer's, rep's, or whatever's word because how would they know. They heard from this person or that person? Usually rumors. I say this all the time when people post these threads saying that they heard from this person or that that the next year HD will be this color, or have that thing, or be this model, and every year its never happened.
what happened to that fire engine red firefighter edition 03 HD that somebody was talking about a few months ago? Only to be sold to firefighters? Gee, what a suprise, your trusty old dealer was wrong
Anyway, I emailed the ontario plant in canada (where the 00's were built as you know) and they emailed me back with the official count of 8197 HD's for 2000. They also said they don't have the # for the 01 or 02's either cuz they were made in kansas city. They knew what they were talking about, and that odd number seems more realistic than say 8K HD's to the mark. Usually doesn't work that way. I'll believe this number, its from teh most accurate source i've heard from yet, so i have nothing better to believe, other than articles on the web, or what people say they "heard"

anyway, when did you hear this? Was it right after the 00's were built? And how many did they say?
I'm going to email them back again since its been about 6 months since i did it last to see if they send me the same #. But don't get me wrong, the less made the happier i'll be

thanks. i'll email them right now and post what they come back to me and say. i may even have the old email saved.

Actually there is SOME truth to this.

Harley-Davidson has a model out that is their flagship highway cruiser, their "Gold Wing" if you will (I don't know there name for it).... and if you show proof that you are a Law Enforcement or a Firefighter type person then you can order a special edition that comes in, guess what? ...yep, Fire Engine Red with a special logo on it.

As you see, the rumor was a half truth-- it just wasn't a FORD or a TRUCK!

Anyway, this is far from thread topic... remember, we are suppose to be showing George our interest!

I showed interest!

anyway, when whoever brought that rumor up, those bikes were already out, or scheduled to be and were publically released, so that was no suprise with them. Its just funny he swore that his dealer was right, and that we would all see. Funny how quick things change

356,

The plant Manager stated that 7500 were assembled in the plant. (I would accept a few deviations on the total number for considerations of the original prototypes and show vehicles that were produced outside of the facility.) But 7500 were assembled in Oakville. The information came approximately August 25th-30th, 2001 (last August), after we took a tour that I arranged of the Oakville Assembly Plant. Many members from both here and the other site were present at the Q&A session to attest to this number. Mschon being one, along with 35-40 other trucks with occupants.

BlownHarleyFord, check out the other thread on this board. its title is similar to this one. the guy had 00 HD # 7,900 something. Not saying you are wrong or trying to argue, i just want to find out the TRUE total # as much as you do. Don't know why they just can't post it on the ford site, or be like SVT where you can call with your vin and find out your build# and how they publically announce how many were made and by the color

*edit* here's the link
