Decisions

SC300TURBO - Tough decision. I think it sort of depends on your priorities. An end of the year '02 will be a whole lot cheaper than a new '03, unless you are doing an A-Plan buy. Performance wise, it's a wash between the '02 / '03. If you don't want the two tone paint or the other '03 unique items - better sound system, heated / power rear window, etc, I'd save the $$$ and find a good deal on an '02. Either way, you will enjoy the ride. Later.

Schedule

The '02s will be availble until they are all sold. I would think they have built all the '02s they are going to build?? Is that right SHOWYA?

I don't have any inside info on job one schedule, but if it's like the '02, they will show the '03 at SEMA in early November, open the order process before the end of year, and have trucks at the dealers starting in March.

I'd expect the base cost to go up slightly and then maybe a little more for some of the unique '03 options. Good luck.

yep, every year the price goes up, and i bet ya it will again. Maybe not as much, but it most likely will go up at least a little.

also, yes, they have stopped making the 02 HD's. Showya confirmed this to me a few weeks ago, and he told me they made a little over 12K of them.

SC300TURBO, i say for you, get a 02. Mainly because the trucks are basically the same, with only cosmetic changes on the exterior, and a redesigned interior (as there is every year), little if no mechanical changes. Also, if you repainted the 03HD all silver it would definately hurt its resale value, so your best bet would be to get a 02. Cheaper now, and better resale than a repainted (differently) 03. Just my .02$. let us know what you decide.

i appreciate the help...im leaning towards a 02.....i like the interior on the 02....and everything else about the 02 for that matter...although i dont like the issues i see popping up with these trucks......if i buy the 03 and paint it im not worried about resale.....i have researched the truck and every other option out there...i want an HD for the ling run...ill drive this to well over 100K miles......it has everything i could want in a truck.....and i dont think it will have any issues towing a trailor with my lexus or my jeep on the back........
#356 you should know this one.....does the HD come with a tranny cooler stock?..or an oil cooler stock?....thanks agian for the help....looks like i have a little more time than i thought for the 03 to come out...i thought they would be out in nov/dec......lets see..i really appreciate the help....and i do like the 03 silver better than the 02 grey...but i dont like the 2tone at all

The 03 brochure reads they'll be available in the fall of 02. My dealer says he expects to be able to start ordering around 1 Oct. I'm going with the 03 because I can custom order it at x-plan pricing. I do like the 02 grey, but the more I look at the two toned 03, the more I like it.

I got mine by ordering Ford's investor packet. I think you can go to the Ford website. It comes with a form to fax or mail in to receive a pin number. It's a courtesy thing I guess for showing interest in Ford. You do not have to invest.

Oh, #356 congrats on your sideways hood! Being from the city, I never even considered trucks. Ford comes out with the 97 body style, and I'm hooked! I know I've been wavering back and forth on what new vehicle to get. I would love to have an L or a supercharged HD, but everytime I get close, I look at the 00, and be like, "damn, that's a pretty truck!" I'm holding out too, for the absolute best deal, which may be the 03 at x-plan, unless a 02 for less comes up!

Look closely at the side of the radiator. There is the radiator and oil cooler back to back, oil cooler being in front.

yup yup yup The main reason i like teh 00 more than any other year going by looks is the flareside bed and extended cab. Just gives it so much more character or whatever with the flareside IMO. but i'd LOVE to have one of each year lol
