I thought that was the number, but wasn't sure. DavidN over on World said he would weigh one for me since his are off the truck.

If 80# is correct, that would be 320 plus the spare.

volk and some of the other racing wheels in 17" are 15 or less pounds each. Given the weight of a tire and rim in 20", it is conceivable that we could drop 150 pounds with an aftermarket rim. If 100 lbs = 1/10th, that is .15 off the quarter, not to mention a custom look to stand out from the crowd.

In addition, a lightweight spare would be nice as the spare is a heavy steel one.

If you're worried about 100 pounds, you should have taken into consideration that the supercrew weighs 700 pounds more than a regular cab, so the Lightning weighs considerably less than you.

weight is a consideration, but so is passenger room. For those of us that can't afford to have an L as a part time driver, the supercrew is the next best alternative. If I was truly after performance and performance only, I would have gone with an 03 cobra. I have to take clients out and carry fellow office people regularly and I need seating for 4...

My point was that I could put some nice aftermarket rims on my truck and cut weight at the same time...

Nicely said Ken.

Anyway, are you going to sell your HD rims? Or just get a set of drag slicks and lightweight rims for the drag strip? If your going to sell them, would you consider selling the center caps to me? You'd still have no problem selling the rims without them cuz people can get them at teh ford dealer or ford parts online for like 34 bucks a piece, and if you sell them to guys with HD's already as a spare, they won't need them anyway, but i'm short on money cuz i'm buying an AF1 and cervini's and zaino kit, and wanted to update my center caps. Thanks

Yeah...you could change to aftermarket rims and COMPLETELY ruin the look of the HD. But it's your choice - I just wouldn't recommend it.

beauty is in the eye... I love the HD rims. There are also some beautiful aftermarket jobs also...

problem is, my truck looks like the other 12000 on the road... If they only made 4K or so, it would be a different story

I bought my harley for a)performance b)looks c)features and such d)crew cab

Being that it was a Harley really didn't have much to do with it other than I had to buy a harley to get all of what I mentioned above...

Ken

A really nice set of forged rims is no more expensive than what I can sell my stock rims for...

I won't sell my stock ones until I am sure I have found the perfect replacement.... That may take a while, harley#356...

True, but i think that the rims make the truck. Change the rims, and IMO makes the truck less special looking. But thats just what i think, others feel differently. But it can still look awsome with different rims, don't get me wrong, i just like the stock ones better. I don't care if xxxx many other guys have the same rims, it makes us closer in the "brotherhood" as the guys at world would say. LoL. Anyway, no problem on the wait, i'll just be happy if you can sell the center caps to me and sell the others as spares or a set without them. Thanks alot

the challenge will be to find a 20" FORGED aluminum rim. I won't settle for a cast or lesser rim as they will weigh just as much (or more) and will be less than the quality of the stock ones.

Tire Rack has a lame collection of 20's for our truck...

I'll have to keep looking. There are some awesome rims out there in 19" and smaller...

ken800- Look at the Weld "EVO" series-
http://www.weldracing.com/explorer.html
Or Centerline wheels-
http://www.centerlinewheels.com/
They all have a forged series that is available in 20's, and some in chrome too.
BTW-Anyone know what the backspace is on the stock wheel?
