What kind of oil too use?
Re: Motor oil...
Jonrauch,
I run Mobil 1 synthetic 5-W-30 in my '00 H-D F150. The dealer recomended it at time of purchase. Even though 5-W-20 is recomended by Ford, I felt it was too light weight.

i am useing 10W30 mobil 1 in my 00 HD. it wil cost you about twice as much as a regular oil, but it lasts longer and protects better. I also use a mobil 1 filter. i believe the filter is the most important part. so even if you use regular oil i would suggest a better filter than just a fram. definately dont run 5W30. the only reason ford reccomends this oil is to lower its CAFE (corperate average fuel economy) rating. i would use 10W30 or 5W30. its up to you if you go with synthetic or not. but i think it is probably worth the money for the extra protection. and i would definately go with a high quality filter.

i do a ton of travelling and live in AZ for most of the year - my SS runs synthetic and i've never had a problem (knock on wood). i'm just wondering what will be best for the superchargered motor.
i think synthetics are always better. but i think you should definately run a thicker oil. especially in hotter climates. my 2000 reccomends 10W30 but the newer trucks reccomend 5W20 which i believe is much too thin, and wont provide as much protection.

Actually I have read a bunch of reviews, and the Ford Motorcraft filter has always been in the top, or THE top, of the list for quality. And Mobil one isn't as good as you woudl think.
