Dealer trying to SCrew me?

I've been pricing HDs for awhile. I finally asked my dealer to work up some numbers on a lease and buy with x-plan pricing. On a buy they quoted me $699/month 60 months@7.99%. This is what I got on a lease:

12.5% APR and $762/month? That sounds a bit ridiculous.

Without offending anyone, what are you guys paying?

Although i don't like to say it, but I leased my HD truck for 3 years. Thats why my plate says kks12z The KK in NJ means the vehicle is leased. Anyway, my payments are a hair under 400 a month, and i traded in my 95 contour for around 5K and put 3 K down. After the lease is up though, i'm going to do the buyout no doubt about it. I'll probably have like a 3 or 4 year buyout to keep the payments down. So i'll be paying on my baby for like 7 years But i don't mind cuz i love this truck, and its worth it because thats the only way i can afford it.

Thumbs down

Dude - they're screwing you. The APR for a 36mo lease should be anywhere from 6-8%, depending on your credit. Given what you've been quoted, you are obviously much better off purchasing it. If you are serious about leasing, check out www.leasecompare.com. When I plugged your numbers in, it came out like $589mo + tax for a 39mo lease.

Also, if you keep ****ering with them on the Read Carpet, use this site to check their numbers: http://www.mortgage-calc.com/miscell...alculator.html

As for purchasing, you can get 5.65% on a 60mo new dealer purchase from peoplefirst.com. I have used them 3 times and they are quick, easy, and painless. 5.65 vs 7.99 for 35k can save you ~$40mo.

HTH and good luck!

Thanks guys

I knew this was bu!!*****. I just talked to the Internet sales manager and according to her, the interest rate on HD leases is 12.5% and that's coming directly from Ford Motor credit. It's not going to be hard beating that.

Youre getting shafted pretty good there.......I have an 00 and I put 10K down at 7.25% interest for 60 months...neeless to say I only owe 13K onthe truck now......Im lovin it.....and im only 21 years old......

A little advise, start going to banks, and get pre approved for a loan that is invoice price of the truck, then walk up to the dealer, DONT TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR IT OUT RIGHT. work a deal to purchase the truck on invoice, then when they ask you to sign the lease papers....just be like "Heres the drafting numbers" and then they will have to sell it to you for what they quoted it to you for.....DONT LEASE or purchase thru ford credit.... start hitting up banks.........

Patrick

I hope this helps you.

I think the good old days of leasing is over. I am hearing that Ford is getting stuck with all the Lease turnins, this is what I am hearing. thats why leasing for the old reasons are gone, there are still reasons to lease but they are not on the vehicles you might want, Ford is going to do lease deals on vehicles that they can't get rid of HEHEHEHHEHEHEH

when I first leased the residuals were like 70% and even some were like 80% on the right vehicle, today your lucky to get 50 and the example above is 42% ON A HARLEY F-150

but if your going to be trading in two years or something why not pay the extra $$ or your going to have to pay $$ when you go to trade cause your going to be upside down in a purchase if you dont put a whole lot down!

btw my Harley F-150 is leased at 4.9% interest
the ranger is 1.9% all I remember is the ranger was like 52% residual, I think the Harley was like 50% or 49%

lease payments well both had $1000 as down
and the Harley is 485 and the ranger is 157

I finaced under 32k through my Credit Union. 60 Months was %5.9 and 72 Months was %6.1

I figured .2 percent? So I opted for the 72 Month purchase. and pay about $535.00 I have only owned the truck a month and have already paid double that into it... I figured I can get back the .2% REALLY easy with just a little work... but have the option of lower payments too.

I got my 00 thru Ford Credit at 4.9% with not too good credit. I got it at the end of the year when Ford was trying to get rid of their inventory. I think they also gave me some plan pricing as I only payed around 29k with an old 91 beat up rust bucket Escort as trade. My payments are 550 for 60 months with Extended Waranty. I think I made out pretty well. I'm gonna see what happens this year with the 02 and my x-plan.

BTW, my pin expires in May. If I don't get something new by Jan 03, someone can have it.

hay guys ive been readin your posts and am going to hopfully be an owner in about 2 weeks!! I luv this truck and have a couple dealers that will do x-plan with it, but i do have sum questions about that:

a) can i use my friends x-plan pin? he bought a car in sep and thay didnt even enter it in any special system or nothing so i was just gona use the same pin for my truck since i believe u can use it twice in a year.
b) I was quoted with 10% intrst through ford credit with my dad underneath on a co sign. now my credit isnt to strong but do u guys know if i could probably beat this by using one of the sights like peoplfirst?
c) when pre apoved for a loan do u have to have the exact price before intrest in hand including tax? i tried to use the online calculator at eloan but didnt know what amount i should put, i think x-plan on the truck im looking at was 335000, is that what i enter?

I hope u guys dont mind the bonehead questions but im new to this game and dont want to get screwd. all info is apreciated and keep up the great posts guys, uve realy helped me to decide on what truck to get

B) I do not believe you can reuse a PIN. Also, when I did my PIN recently they did it on the system in the back offices. I know this because my (cool) salesman told me that it came up as a bad PIN. Then they reliezed that that had reversed two of the others. "That's why I was gone so long."

C) I got pre-approved for about 8k more than I needed. For you, I would figure out what you think you need to buy it-- add in a cushion that you are happy with, and when you get pre-approced they give you a "blank check" that is good up to that mount. You simply fill in the number that you need. You drive away, dealer submits it to the lender, lender pays dealer, lender calls you and asks what date would you like your note due on.

$335,000??!!?? WHOOOOO-HOOOOO! Gotta *LOVE* appreciation!!! Where's that FOR SALE sign!?!?!
