Help! Taking paint off fender flares.
Just noticed at lunch today that I have house paint on my rear bedside flare. Must have done it backing out of the garage this morning. (What a *******ing idiot!). My wife's Expedition and my truck both fit in the garage barely and I must have got too close last night.
Anyway, anyone have any good ideas/products to take off the paint withouth damaging the clearcoat? I guess I may have to just replace the d*mn thing. Truck's only a month old. I about cried when I saw it.
I was going to try a little paint thinner in a small spot to see if that works.

It can't be rubbed out? Sometimes when some a-hole parks next to me in a parking lot, even though i park in the middle of nowhere with no cars around, and opens their door into mine, if it leaves a paint mark, i can usually rub it out when i put another coat of liquid glass on. Just a suggestion, good luck fixing it.
Hey BillP ON NO ACCOUNT USE THINNERS. It will go straight through the clear coat, don't do it dude. Do you have a product called T cut over there in the states ? if so use that,if not go to a auto shop and ask for a fine compound polish, something like 3M's finness it's a product used in the body trade for polishing out small imperfections in the paint work. (I have been in the trade for 20 years) but PLEASE DON'T USE THINNERS or you will be sorry.
Turtle Wax rubbing compound!!!
I got that Bright gold epoxy street line/arrow paint on the side of my truck when i drove onto a job site and the idiots didnt flag off the parking lot. I thought I was screwed. The paint shop in town said to use it and if it didnt come off then your screwed. After alot of buffing with it it came off. Just make sure you wax or glass it right afterwards. Good luck.
Now that I think about it why dont you try that peanut butter trick. Who would have thought that peanut butter removes wax from plastic. Maybe it removes scuffs from paint. HUMMM... pack a sandwich for lunch tomarrow and before you eat it give it a little rub.
P.S. If its raining dont try it. Every tried eating a soggy peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Youll end up wearing more then you eat.

Thanks for all the help! I used some stuff my dad had given me when he worked for Ford to take off road tar then I used a little rubbing compound and re-waxed the whole thing.
Looks good as new
I was sick to my stomach all day thinking about it and wondering if it would come out.
Now just got to pay better attention when putting our 2 big beasts in the garage. Maybe some big foam bumpers on the side of the door opening

Like a loading dock... or how bout boat dock ballons... Or better yet rent a bulldozer and try and park it in the garage and accidently bump the wall and make your garage bigger. If your wife Bit chs just say it was an ACCIDENT. Good excuse for a new and improved garage.
P.S. Make sure you save some of that rubbing compound to buff out the scuffs on the Dozer before you return it to the rental company. Dont want them to keep your deposit now do you.
