Whats a good price?

Ok, my dad has finally come to his senses and decided to get rid of his 99 GMC and wanted to get a new 02 Harley. I was estatic! But as we walked around the dealer lot looking at new trucks the lowest price was about $37,300. My dad got to being a slight *** in my opinion and finally got the sales manager trying to deal with him. The most that the guy said he could take off the truck and still make a good profit was $1,000. Now I know price varies from dealership to dealership and where the dealership is but even I think that is way high for a frickin truck that isnt produced by SVT.

Were these guys trying to take my dad for a ride or is this a fair price?

f150freak, i believe i've heard of guys getting them for 33K. but that might be with x plan. Anyway, even if it was made by svt (which about 1/2 of it practically is cuz the suspension and motor is all svt...but just no emblems) that would still be alittle high. But it is msrp i believe, so at least he's not tryin to go higher cuz its limited edition. But i know guys have gotten it for less. I would suggest callin around to different places, but if your dad's buyin it, i would try and convince him to get it for the 1K off if you can't find it for any cheaper cuz its his money, and its one HOTT truck.

good luck

Tell your dealer to stick it. I got that same load of crap from the Houston are dealers too. They wanted sticker, or sticker +. Yeah, right! I did a little internet searching, and got quoted 34.5 for a HD with a sunroof. I haven't bought one yet, but I will bet I can get them down to 33k without any XY or Z plans...

I got mine for invoice and $98. It has the bedextender, moonroof, hitch, heated seats, cd changer. I think it was $33,8something. If you search around and call you can find dealers that don't play those bs games. I had a dealer in Palm Beach that had a $3k adder on the sticker...

Got mine for $32550 ... no bed extender (never used the one I had in my '01--just got in the way), no CD changer, no slider. Heated seats and roof... yes.

$32K and some change is the A Plan price range. I'd try to get as near that as possible. My purchase plan seems to be on hold right now because I'm trying to buy a house...

Got mine for $33k and some change a couple weeks ago completely loaded with all options through X-Plan.

You should still be able to get one without a plan for a couple hundred over invoice.

Check out http://www.kbb.com for invoice pricing and go to the dealer.

On Friday, while picking up my '01 SCab that I had at the dealer getting the brakes done, I was nosing around and noticed that the HDs had $3000 off stickers on them. I believe that brings it down to $35,200. The dealer was telling another guy who offered $33.5 that he might be able to pull it off. I live in Nor Cal, so there is umpteen Ford Dealerships competing with one another; but, hey, if you can get one for that in the "land of perpetually rising prices", I'd bet you can get it for that in Texas....

They are HOT sellers here in the San Diego area. The 3 people I have asked around here have paid sticker, along with me. It all seems to depend on your area. Those in LA have a larger supply from Ford, not to mention 20 times the number of Ford dealerships than S.D. This low volume and higher median income for San Diego allows the dealerships to get what they want. They know that if you live here and are looking at this truck, then you can afford to pay MSRP. That goes for food, housing, etc. down here. $3 for a loaf of Wonder bread and $5 for a gallon of milk!!!! Come on! They know we will pay it to live in an area that is sunny 99.5% of the year.

Those in areas like Texas and the Southeast are more likely to get a lower price, since most trucks purchased in those areas are 4x4 or for recreational use. Let's face it, this truck is all show with decent go. SoCal is the land of the sport luxury scene (my other ride is a Bimmer). Give it a few more months and SoCal will budge on the price. Let the "hype" of the new model die down and you can get what you want. As in a previous post, "land of perpetually rising prices" goes for almost everything here. The median house price here in SD county just went up to $350K. If they don't sell it to you, they will sell it to one of the other 3 million people here. I was more than happy to pay sticker for my SL (won't be here for 1.5 years). Average markup is $10K over sticker. Long live capitalism!

Why not just take the short trip up 101 or 1 to LA and save a few thousand bucks? And enjoy the scenery to boot!

I don't mind paying sticker, but will never pay over sticker. No offense to those up north, but I hate the drive to LA (not to mention LA itself). Just seems too dirty and hectic up there. I don't mind adding to the SD economy. I'm more of an impulse buyer and don't like to wait. One of those "gotta have it first" people, which will always cost me more than it should. Now that I have seen 10 or so of these '02 HD's on the road, I don't really "feel it" anymore. For a limited edition, 13000 seems a little high for production numbers. The SL I ordered is a standard production car and is only at 10,000 per year. SL55...300 models per year. Now that's limited production. I was going to order one, but have to wait 9 years for my order to come up.

Thanks for the advice though!
