Thumbs up Engine Detail Mod

Just wondering what colors you guys think i should use for this. I've been wanting to do this for a while and will finally be getting around to it. So let me hear your color suggestions for my black 00 HD. I was thinking either:
silver backround and black letters
Just silver letters and plain backround
Silver backround and red letters
Silver/red/black combo between words and backround
I need suggestions cuz i can't decide. Also, do you think that model paint (for those little 1/24th scale models) would hold up alright??? Thanks in advance for the suggestions

Here's a pic of a KR that had the mod done. Looks pretty cool.

You know what i would do?

HOT PINK and PURPLE with GOLD background, But make sure the gold is the cheap **** that youd use to paint you mailbox. It gives it the finishing touches. Or you can use gangsta flack a.k.a blowing ball. You know the paint w/ the glitter in it. Give your engine compartment that BLING, BLING look. But thats my opinion.

Db682. LoL, i think i'll pass on the pink/purple/gold bling combo.

Any other suggestions? I think i'm leaning towards silver red and black, but i gotta decide what to be what color.

You 02 guys are lucky cuz you've got that nice emblem thing already on your airbox. I love that "powered by ford" logo.

pgh_medic, this is what RockPick told me how he did his. I just asked him if enamel model paint would hold up. I don't really wanna mask everything off like he did. Hope this helps, i'll let ya know anything else when he gets back to me.

Harley, I used Dupli-Color spray touch up paint. (available at Autozone). I masked everything off (the entire outter area) and sprayed the beige. It took about 3 or 4 coats (I can't remember exactly how many times I painted it). Then, like you had mentioned, I came back in with the Chestnut Brown. I took the spray and sprayed a few blotches on some wax paper. Using a white out brush (yes, a white-out brush cleaned out with paint thinner), I painted the lettering. Honestly, it was VERY VERY easy to do. Masking the area off was the most time consuming part. I will say this, make 110% sure the the masking tape makes a VERY GOOD SEAL at the edge of the 5.4 plate (or other item that you're painting). I had some of the gold make it under the tape and bleed on to the surrounding plastic. To solve this problem, I used a toothbrush and some fingernail polish remover (which worked like a dream). (I was scared that the polish remover might melt the plastic but, it held up without any problems.

Here's the two pics that LLoverCrazyJay and J15BIG photoshoped for me. I'm leaning towards the one with the black triton and red 5.4L.
High temp paint for my brake calipers should work for the plastic, won't it??? Anyway, i took the cover off today, and i'm probably gonna get the paint tomorrow.

Well thanks again, i'll let ya know how it turns out.

Thanks ViperGrendal, I'm definately going with the black triton and red 5.4L. I wish we had the "powered by ford" actual emblem like the new 02 HD's have. It looks pretty cool

Aight, i'm done it...well almost. I still gotta touch up some spots 2morrow on the letters to even out the edges, but it's practically done. Now i just need to know whether or not i should clearcoat. I guess it couldn't hurt. Only pain would be remasking, but i taped a plastic bag around most of it so it wasn't that bad to do. Well thanks for your help, (geez, i sure did ask enough questions about this little paint mod. LoL) But i wanted to make sure it turned out right the 1st time. Here's a few pics of how it turned out. Next up- Brake calipers. but 1st i gotta find silver high temp paint, can't find it at pepboys, i'll probably have to go to till paint (automotive paint shop). Have you done yours yet RockPick? I'm sure i'll have some more questions. LoL ;-)

Hey, i wonder where that sticker on the left came from? LoL

not the best pics but i'll post one when i get it back on the truck. I'll probably clear coat it 2morrow, and put it back on monday or tuesday. I wanna make sure its completely dry before i put it back on just for me to drive somewhere and dirt stick to it or the paint melt cuz black truck plus its so friggin hot and humid here.. (90 something and mega humid today...it sucks. I only like this weather for bike riding suprisingly
