Driving habits w/ OD

Was just out for a ride earlier and got to thinkin' about the OD button on my '00. Was wonderin' about how much use it gets from others. Don't really ever use it all that much unless hittin' steep inclines or jumpin' on it to pass. Any pros or cons? Thought maybe I should get more use out of it. Guy I work with thinks that it's pretty much useless. Interested to see what some of you all might have to say. I know it ain't mod related but maybe it affects driving habits after some mod additions... or maybe I'm just ****?! (That wouldn't surprise me.) Peace...

I leave O/D off when driving around town and click it on when i head out on the highway. It is kind of sluggish IMO when it goes into 4th around town.

Same here, when I am getting off the highway, I shut off the O/D
& can feal it pull, back (some less use on the brake pads)
My rule for O/D is 55mph + it is on & under 55 it is off.

I usually just leave mine on. Don't think to turn it off. I remember reading somewhere that i should keep it off unless driving on the hwy cuz it can hurt the tranny. I'm guessing i should start leaving it off unless on the hwy. I do notice that it has more kick off the line with o/d off.

I always leave mine on also. I learned that it doesnt make any difference if you leave it on at all because OD is computer controlled. it kicks in when the engine is put into a rougher then normal situation. Like fast highway driving or uphill driving or towing. I could be wrong. I guess Ill have to find out some more.

I have a '02 HD. From my house I travel about 3 miles down hill. I have also put my other trucks in 3rd or turn of the o/d. With this truck with the o/d turn off it seems to be jerky but when I put it back to o/d it smooths out.

Any similar experiences from anybody else????????
